I've never ordered chips from an indian or chinese takeaway, seems like an odd thing to eat with both cuisines. but that all does look good though.
Looking at the menu for my local Chinese and Indian and chips are not on there. Don't think I have ever seen chips in a Chinese and Indian restaurant.
Ive seen chips on virtually ever chinese takeaway menu, indian less so though.
Salt and pepper chips from my local Chinese are amazing, not in the slightest bit healthy, fries in oil then fried again in a wok! Quality!

I had this a few weeks ago. That skewer is around 40cm in length. I should have picked up the warning signs earlier - childrens trampoline play centre, one of the more exotic menu choices and that split second hesitation of every staff member who had something to do with the order. I think they must have had a different vat of fat for these things due to the tempura angle of the frying.

Anyway, to cut a long story short that clear stuff on the paper cooled to form something like a two millimetre thick layer of grease. While all this was going on I hadn't remembered that I don't have a gall bladder - it got removed about eighteen months ago. That usually doesn't present any problems to me like it can to others, but I have to say I hadn't quite tested the theory to this extreme. As for the results, well it shot through me like greased lightning.
I thought that was some kind of mental calamari. I thought - God, he is brave ordering that from a play centre!

what I miss most is hot wings that were actually HOT. i remember 10 years ago buying wings and me struggling to finish it because of the heat and it making my nose runny.

nowadays i love the heat and have a better tolerance for it but all these wings these days have no heat. you're lucky if you find an indie FC place that actually puts chillies in their wings.
I totally agree with you on this , i always end up adding one of the many hot sauces i have at home on them , i think its firstly a lack of spicing at the shop combined with my having a high chilli tolerance. i often just make my own hot wings now. marinade in mr naga ghost chilli pickle , red chilli flakes and franks hot sauce ( not for heat , its mild as hell just tastes good)and bake till crispy.
Giblet, are you talking about the dixys near the grand theatre where the kebab shops are ? there chicken when you were pissed was brilliant , dirt cheap too. fave chicken at the moment is UKFC on armley town street dirt cheap , spicy chicken fillet burger with fries, 3 wings , beans and a can of pop 3.50 then next door pizza grill are good too and do amazing bhajis.

I find that really odd, here in Leeds every Indian and Chinese place has chips on the menus, the Chinese places usualy have a few types like just plain chips, salt and pepper chips, ive had five spice chips too they were cracking. Indian places seem to be just bog standard fries though.

I think it’s a north south thing. Many take outs down south don’t do chips. One of my favourite Indians is right next door to a decent real chippy so deal done if you want chips with your Indian or curry sauce with your chips. Much better than frozen chips.

Ok just noticed some small print in the chinese menu. Under English dishes where it lists four omelettes, it says "all include chips" but I can't see that you can order just a portion.

As a northerner whom now lives in South East London - think I've got both bases covered. All the chinese take aways near us do chips (will ask if they can do the salt'n Pepper next time when I'm steaming drunk)

Agree not many Indian takeaways around here may have chips on their menus however. But one we use - does have Chips as a takeaway (but never tried them/thought of getting chips with an Indian)

I suppose I think of chips as English and fries American. If I want to eat English then ill go to an english restaurant, Chinese a Chinese restaurant and Indian an Indian restaurant.

I suppose its a perception thing, I don't expect to see pizza on the menu when I am in an Indian restaurant. Even if it was there I wouldn't order it as I went there for Indian food. If I wanted a pizza I would go to an Italian restaurant, but also while in that Italian restaurant I wouldn't expect to see a vindaloo or biryani on the menu.

I understand that these restaurants provide an English option as there maybe people in a group that do not like spicy or foreign food. But I don't think they were ment to be mixed. I am not having a dig, eat what you like but I will reserve my chip eating to steaks, burgers, battered fish etc.

I'd never have chips with Indian food, always chapati, poppadom, or naan.

However, chips go particularly well with chinese curry.

I prefer chips to rice just because I’m not really fussed about rice. Either way it’s just empty carbs to soak up the excess sauce in a takeaway.

Salt and chilli chips and Chinese curry is the best hangover cure.

Bacon wrapped chicken legs / wings from the OC fair last summer. Salted and seasoned to high heaven, dry, crunchy, chewy, dipped in bbq sauce. Felt my arteries burning afterwards.

Pretty much every Chinese takeaway I've ever been to in Poole/Bournemouth serve chips, Indian takeaways not quite so much.

Bonus chicken ball if you can name the film -
