Oh I missed that that little nugget but the 14th March doesn't work for me unfortunately. I'm only going to be free in the summer frown Looks like a road trip with the missus then (with her driving).

[quote=Lefty]Port Octaves.

There will be a very limited run of these, they will be available in a few weeks time. Probably never to be repeated...

Anyone fancy it?

£700 for unpeated spirit, 10x slots at £70 each (or £75 via paypal).

I'm in. 2 slots please.
Love Port finished whisky - the sherry monsters still have the edge though.

When do you want the cash Lefty - donh't want to miss out on the Octaves ?

I'll maybe take two slots as well.

Cash whenever suits chaps, I wouldn't mind at least confirming the order with the distillery this week so that the casks don't sell out.

Now...peated or unpeated? My personal preference would be for unpeated. Any opinions?

Slainte!

I've updated our line. But not added another for you Lefty if needed.

You're making this hard now. I thought we were just talking unpeated. But if I had a choice I would go peated any day. That Benriach Importo Fumo Wotsit that I'm nearly finished (and have a sample if you want that one) is lovely. But I will go with a majority if its unpeated though.

The idea of the two is good - but trade seems a bit slower - and if we went for the two would you two mega whiskyheads only drop down to one share of each.
Either way - we will be able to fill at least one so don't let that get in the way of making sure we get an octave reserved.

Very tempted... £70 now and a tenth of the duty when it's paid its dues to the angels?

You really are keen.

Have you become part of a competition with Lefty for best tablecloth tonight ? Using the normal gradings - Lefty 3/5, CB 4/5. My padded table protector - 1/5.

Inspired group tasting though. Wish I was there, although I struggle to rate the Balvenie so high. Good, but maybe a little subtle for me.

My tablecloth is purely to keep the hoards of children from decorating the Oak underneath with felt tips, paint, play-do etc !
You are right however it could be more aesthetically pleasing to the eye !

Love the group tasting idea.
I suggest this for the new blog…………… ‘Dram flight per week/month’ – I miss DpD !

Hahaha, our tablecloth is for exactly the same purpose!!!

Has everyone else lost the DPD emails? I've checked all the settings and it should still be working... frown

Would have been good to do the port tasting last night with a few people.

I'm doing my first organised tasting at the end of feb - for a group of about 30 people

I've got the order form from Ronnie at GG and Graeme the maturation manager has put my name down for a cask so the pressure's off. Still be nice toi get it ordered though smile

Assuming we get 10 shares and we go for unpeated, it's £70 each by direct transfer.

Rob, got your email, ta. I'll reply with my bank details.

For anyone not fully up to speed with the process, we buy the cask upfront. The cost price includes storage for up to 7 years although we can bottle at any time after 3 years.

Costs to be paid at time of bottling include:

Bottling charge (£1-£3 per bottle depending on bottle/packaging style)
Duty (currently £25.52 per litre of pure alcohol)
VAT (currently 20% on cost+duty)
P&P

There's no guarantee on number of bottles we'll get from the cask but it is likely to be between 50 and 60 depending on how greedy the angels are...

Cheers
Lefty
