Tried Smashburger yesterday, it was pretty good. Burger was tasty if a bit fatty, There was a film of congealed fat on some of the salad hanging out the back of the bun which was quite unappealing.

We got the smash fries and thought that the olive oil left them a bit greasy too, probably wouldn’t get them again.

Still at the pricier end of the burger places as well. Regular cheeseburger, triple double, regular smash fries, a soft drink and a beer came to about £25.

Preferred it to Five Guys but I still wouldn’t pick it over my usual go to burger place. Will probably end up going there again though as it’s just far enough away from my usual place to be a decent alternative option.

OK, so I tried my first Five Guys today @ Harrogate.

Hamburger, a few fillings, small fries and a drink = £13.

Utterly disappointed.

Given I was one for 3 people in the place at 12:15 and it was cooked to order - I would have thought they would have served hot food.

VERY average burger. Tasted bland and boiled, little Maillard reaction - almost like the cooking plate was not up to temp. Luke warm fries, though fairly tasty.

Nice enough premises (very clean and the staff were very polite and friendly). I'm not inclined to go again.

Irrespective of price, the best burger I’ve had was at The Original Patty Men, digbeth (Birmingham)

It’s a hipster joint in a really run down but vibrant area.

Very limited menu but superb food and I consider myself something of an aficionado.

This was run close by the excellent offering at Man V Food in Hounslow, again not a nice location but a great burger.

Looks like the burger bubble is bursting. There has been a lot struggling and as above the 5 Guys now look quiet.

I like 5G burgers but hate the fries. Greasy crap.

Heads up for Bleecker Burger outside Victoria Station, London.

Opposite Shake Shack and has won our taste tests over SS and 5G.

I give them 12 months in the UK.

If you are empty in one of the richest towns in the UK in the school holidays then... it was even raining... I know it is peak holiday season, but still.

Tried them once and thought the burger was very greasy. Didn't rate it.

I'm still yet to visit Bleecker burger, i've heard nothing but good things and it consistently seems to rank no1 or at the very least the top 3-5 of any list. When is probably the best time to go there for a burger? i'm guessing before lunch rush or after it perhaps (on a weekday).

Went there one Sunday lunchtime a few months ago. I’d been meaning to try it.

I wasn’t that impressed to be honest. The burger was greasy enough that I needed to wash my hands, but being a hipster place there’s only one loo (non-gender specific). The burger itself had a bit of bone in virtually my first bite, which put me off. Patty itself was somewhat bland but the accompaniments were a bit try-hard.

Not intending to go back.

If you've got an Honest Burgers near enough to you, I'd recommend that. Not had a bad one yet and the monthly specials are usually spot on.

Wetherspoons.

£6 odd for a burger and chips. Go at the right time and a drink is included.

Excellent fare.

A beer is always included at Spoons. Or pay a pound less and get a soft drink. I do enjoy a meal at Spoons from time-to-time.

Byron Burger tastes a lot better now it's on the Taste card.

50% off makes an average experience quite enjoyable. smile

It kind of worries me... If a restaurant can take so much off their food, what quality are they using (assuming they never sell at a loss)?

Bleecker still gets my vote every time. Although usually get three burgers between two people as they aren't very big, and very moreish!

Bleecker been mentioned countless times in the thread already.

Doesnt take much to beat 5G's in taste test. Something with an ounce of flavor would beat them. a place for people who dont know burgers to think here getting a good burger.
