Is it really necessary to make tea with boiling water?

Only if you want to kill the flavour. Still, whatever floats your boat. You could maybe put an umbrella in it too (the Scotch, not the tea), to complete the effect.

What's worse is the dirty bds who, upon accidently letting their tea go cold, think it's perfectly acceptable to reheat it on the microwave.

I've not used the PH search for years, i just prefix Google searches with "pistonheads".

What I meant was, do people search for stuff like "tea bagging hot" ( ) see a thread from 8yrs ago, read it, then sign up to add their two penneth? Or find the site while looking for a new car, join up, and get lead down a rabbit-hole of epic proportions back to 2008?

Or is time travel actually a thing....

On a side issue, I was at The Ideal Home Exhibition years ago, and a young woman demonstrating some coffee making product or machine, said, “Water boiling means coffee spoiling.”

Just started drinking tea again after only coffee for hot drinks for over 10 years. Up to 8 coffees a day, strong and black, 2 sweeteners unless espresso.

Really enjoying tea, again 2 sweeteners, milk, not too much. Any suggestions for a really good tea for drinking like this, tried it black, don't like it. Currently P G Tips, so call me a philistine if you want, but I like it so there!!

Just seen the other thread so gonna try Yorkshire Tea and Twinings.Will let you know.

Sainsbury Red Label is a good everyday tea. They also do it decaffeinated which is what I use.

My FIL used to make what he called a "thick coffee" which he made with 12 teaspoons of Coffee Mate ! It tasted as disgusting as it sounds !
