PS What do you think of the new Nigel Slater series, I quite like it. Nigel always looks like he gets semi hard about 4 seconds after the first forkful, even if it is boiled turnip.

Love it. Nigel Slater is brilliant in my opinion.

Not one of those chefs can cook meat. ALL RAW WTF? The more you pay for a meal the more chance you stand of being poisoned.

Being someone who likes their steak extremely bloody it looked fine to me as it wasn't pork or chicken, however I can see what most would like.

I actually thought the quality improved a lot tonight and picking 3 of the best from them would have given me a lovely meal. Cod cheeks for starter and the rhubarb dish for desert a must and perhaps the main course from the lady who rather knocked all the men into a cocked hat tonight skill wise. She was rampant!

I hear what you're saying and I'm not shy of rare meat but most of that stuff wouldn't even have been hot. It's just not right. Pink? Yes. Raw? No.

That raw chicken was an absolute joke.

Also, it's getting on my tits that the fat grocer simply just repeats everything roux jnr says.

2 hours?! Why that long?

Chubby cabbage vendor need to keep popping out for a mcdonalds?
I guess just because TV is slow.

I was also told that JT & GW were half (or more) cut most of the time. Whether this is true or not I don't know.
Is definatly cut, last nights episode had Roux tasting a sabinyong (or whatever it's called)! The Mrs and I were laughing at the amount caught in his beard, next shot, all gone!

"cut" and "half cut" meaning two completely different things laugh

TeeHee just been reading this thread and its made my morning....

My housemate and I where discussing this last night while watching how bad some of them have been.

Also love Gregs comment about that rubbarb pudding "I could of gone back for 2nd's and 3rd's of that!" while stood there holding his suit jacket like the fat controller on thomas the tank engine....! Utter Genious.

Playing devil's avocado - the editing of the program may be to blame for the fat grocer always repeating.

And the handle is firmly gripped in his ham-like fist. I can't decide whether he's just scared of losing any food off it or whether he's inadvertently swallowed a few that he didn't quite have hold of.

I see the raw meat-cooking woman-chef is semi-final material.

Despite undercooking the meat - AGAIN!! - in the quarter final.

Call me old fashioned but I'd rather have a pretty basic dinner (e.g. chicken, smash potatoes and tinned peas with Bisto gravy) as long as the fking meat is cooked and I don't get food poisoning.

Depends what meat???

If beef, all you have to do to keep me happy is wipe its arse and back it up to the table....

Chicken/pork/etc then yes I cansee your point.

Fish is another I would rather have raw than cooked.

Did you watch it last night? I couldn't stop laughing when they made the chef who looks like Jimmy White crossed with Alan Partridge serve just that ball of sorbet. And the other guys pudding mud slide, that was a classic too. Mind you he did look a bit upset, poor lad.

As for Gregg Wallace he is really really getting up my nose keep repeating what Roux says. I wish Roux would trick him by saying something like

Roux ( when tasting an apple pie) .. "hmm tastes a bit fishy"

Gregg "Yes, I can't get the taste of kippers out of my mouth"

Arrgh
