ALDI & LIDL Food and Drink Worth Trying?
Discussion
It's a slow process, but I am becoming a regular visitor to Aldi.
Although the g/f has shopped there for years, she hadn't discovered the sourdough pizzas - I directed her to them on Saturday. She won't be buying the frozen ones again! Also picked up a screwdriver set there - pretty comprehensive for £10.99 and I've been a bit short of screwdrivers for a while.
On Monday I stopped by after work to pick up some of the wine I like - and couldn't resist their Irish Cream - was about £6.50 a bottle I think. Didn't expect much - I've had the cheap stuff from Tesco before, and it doesn't compare with Baileys at all - but I was pleasantly surprised. It is very different to Baileys but in a good way - Baileys is pretty much cream with a hint of whisky flavouring. Aldi's Irish Cream is more like whisky with a bit of cream thrown in - which if you like whisky (I do) is a positive thing. Much sharper than Baileys - which is a good thing, since it stops half a bottle disappearing at a time! - and definitely something I'll be buying again.

These were very green! I daresay, as with all Aldi things - the label stays the same, the supplier changes regularly.
Will give them another go then.![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Very green and tasty with a good dowsing of malt vinegar stirred in... :-)
Not ALDI but B&M are selling Lemon Drizzle Cake or Cherry Bakewell flavour gin. £10 for a 50cl bottle. The brand is Mrs Cuthbert's, might pop by at the weekend to see if they still have any in https://www.kentlive.news/whats-on/food-drink/bm-s...
Just tried the Lidl Deluxe Organic Wafer Oats in porridge.
Nope, not worth the extra over the almost half the price Simply Oats product. Far too milled for our taste.
We use the Simply Oats in our home made muesli, and there it's completely fine and so cheeeeaaapppp!
For porridge back to Sainsbury's TTD Oats, hardly any more expensive than the Deluxe version but proper barely milled jumbo oats.

I use Mornflake oats (from Aldi, but widely available) for porridge; makes for a first class brekkie.
I'm a harvestmorn (aldi) CrispRice guy.. exactly the same as Ricecrispies.. Although don't stare at the pixie dude on the box for too long in the mornings, he freaks me out a bit, certainly not one of the 'snap, crackle and pop' gang.Oh and back to pizzas (we still don't have the Etna):
I had the 'American Hot' last night, which I think is now my favorite (with a handfull of cheese and bell pepper added).. tasted even better than usual, and all the toppings were laid out better on the top - as per afew post above, maybe, same box - different supplier?

These Tesco oats have been voted best by the fussy porridge folks in our house: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/260...Nope, not worth the extra over the almost half the price Simply Oats product. Far too milled for our taste.

I bought the violet cremes as I remember Gretchen recommending them last year.
The chocolate covered mini stollen bites are great![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
Yes that was me. Not a huge box but nowhere near as expensive as C&W. Nice flavour and good quality layer of dark chocolate. The box lasted a while as they were more of a delicacy. Will buy again. The chocolate covered mini stollen bites are great

Lidls appear to have shrunk the size of their cheap potato wedges. Just open a bag and it only contained small ones whereas you used to get a mixture of sizes.
The Robdogs.
I noticed the same with Aldi wedges - might just be the effects / availability of weather on potatoes. The Robdogs.
