Aren't these munchie boxes just a way for food that would otherwise be tightly packed to go cold more quickly??
It's worth it for the 'all my christmasses come at once' experience of opening one up though.Coin Slot. said:

That curry munchie box is all fur coat and no knickers....It doesn't work for me.
You mean very dirty... ?Agree and that's the attraction
I wish it was but it's not. It's 3 curries in 3 tubs with sides in a big box...with another 3 pots for sauce. Way too much packaging...Defeats the objective of a single box with everything thrown in.
Lots of boxes is just a normal takeaway.

This comment should result in a ban from the thread. No munchy boxes round here either. Not convinced personally, prefer the tightly packed carrier bag. Though suppose one of those boxes does transport more securely, unless car fitted with a curry hook.

I've no objection to the contents at all - I've eaten many a 3am kebab in my time. It just seems like throwing a load of meat loose into a cardboard box would result in cold food within 5min of leaving the shop. Surely the point of takeaway is that you don't need to cook it yourself?
Fair point sir. Perhaps one day in the south I'll be able to test the hypothesistobinen said:

Fair point sir. Perhaps one day in the south I'll be able to test the hypothesisIt's not an issue in the scheme of things, e.g. fish supper, gets decanter onto baking trays, warms up and restores prime crispiness in the oven, whilst tea being made, bread buttered, plates warmed. Not convinced about the munchy box, it doesn't even keep pizza at the right temperature.

It is a fair point, and one I have more generally regarding takeaways. Eaten straight away, e.g. kebab kerbside, or fish supper out of the paper likewise, the temperature is OK. Take them home and too often they need, and in our house get, a quick warm up in the oven. Exception being curries and Chinese for some reason, they aren't an issue, though they do sit in a warm oven for second helpings.
One winter I fancied a kebab, not wanting it to freeze in my hands eating it on the street I had it wrapped to take away. Stuffed it down my jacket and had a lovely kebab baby keeping me warm on the way home, still hot to eat when I got home. Not sure that would work with a pizza box.
