It presumably should be available again next year as they will then be back to having 15yo stock after the distillery closure. It's interesting though related to the discussion of what is best - it's widely viewed that the 15yo was the best balance in the range before it vanished, but depending on which year it was bought the 15yo (as well as the 12yo) would actually have been the same age as the 18yo - so I am not sure what would then be resulting in the difference. I still have a bottle of the 15yo, so it could be interesting to compare to the new one when it starts again.
The old 15 was a bit special - have a read here - http://maltandoak.com/glendronach-15-is-it-the-bes...
I understand that (and as mentioned I still have a bottle of the 15yo from then to open at some point as it was so good), but my point was that review was done in 2014 with a 2013 bottle. That means the 12yo expression was 18yo, the 15yo expression was 18yo and the 18yo expression was also 18yo. Presumably then the casks were mixed with different profiles in mind, rather than the actual age of the whisky. Which is then interesting in how to keep the different profiles relatively similar when the age changes a lot.

I know it's a stupid problem. But I'm really irritated the standard stuff comes in a beautiful box and the soloist doesn't hahaha!

Excited to try these. Water the soloist a touch?

^^^Everyone has different taste (and it's always fun to try different combinations) but I prefer it with just a touch of water.^^^

There's a lot of different boxes - some of the Solists come in a box a bit more like the Sherry Oak, but rounded instead.

Ssherry Oak looks interesting. I'm really curious how it compares to the Soloist as it is one of my favourite drams.

I imagine there is a lot of people who will be interested in it (and if it's like their other sherry casks then it will be very popular).

Got the fire burning and some Auchentoshan 12yo tonight. Winter is certainly arriving now. Easy drinking whisky and typical of other Auchentoshan bottles I've tried.

I'm slowly getting into whisky aswell, after being gifted a bottle of Glenlivet last year. My collection is slowly growing, mainly from any distilleries we've passed, Ben Nevis, Lochnagar etc.

I picked these two up in duty free on the way to our wedding a few weeks ago. No idea if they are any 'good' or not, but I really like the Glen Garioch

I actually remember my first proper whisky session was down in Oxfordshire at a music festival. There was a whisky stand there, (Monkey Shoulder) and being one of the only Scotsman there I offered to get everyone a dram. Unfortunately I only had Scottish money on my and they very nearly refused to take it! hehe

I'd like to hope so after dropping over 100K! I'd love to see the owners face when they open it !

Indeed.

It's a totally ridiculous price, no matter how good it might be.

Never really been in this section of the forum before so having a wee look around. As someone who dislikes whisky im not sure why I opened this thread. It is however nice to see so many of the drinks you guys enjoy being regularily sold at the pub I work at.

My bosses favourite is the Glenlivit Nadura if anyone is looking for something new to try.

Drinking another one from Lidl tonight, Abrachan,
I know it's a blend but it is triple matured in Bourbon, Sherry and Port casks and do know what for less than £18 it's pretty decent dram, seriously, I struggle to think of any blend that meets my palate so well.
