Strange, the Combe breakfast usually comes with sauté potatoes. Was this at The Tavern?

Hoops?
Hoops were permitted following the emergency Belgrave Square conference of '97. However it took another decade for executive ratification.
We are a broad church, but the church did need to be extended quite a lot to accommodate, let us not forget, pasta circles in dayglo sauce.

And, more than 2 decades on, the dissent continues. Indeed I think that was the fundamental reason behind the break-away of the militant Fried Breakfast Army.

I prefer hoops to beans to be perfectly honest. I know this ruffles feathers amongst the haricot lovers within our midst but I won't apologise for identifying as a hoop lover.

Had my nephew and his GF up from Cardiff for a visit. They are both vegan and actual vegan places are a bit thin on the ground near me. We did find a pub with a vegan menu last night, so that was dinner sorted. I had a Wagyu burger which was frankly rubbish, I much preferred the taste of the veggie burger my nephew had. Mine was over cooked, small, dry and pretty tasteless and it was on one of those fking godawful brioche buns. I normally pick up on this, but completely missed it on the menu last night. His burger was much better. Service was fairly dire as well. They were both happy, I was distinctly underwhelmed with my food.

However, this morning was a much better result. They found a small cafe near me which has a really good breakfast menu, from FEB “selections” through to pancakes, syrup and bacon (which I really don’t like!). For everything on the menu, there was a veggie or vegan equivalent/option, which was pretty good considering it was a small local cafe.

I went full English (traditional, with meat), which was ten items for £6.95. The options were the usual suspects - bacon, sausage, egg (fried/poached/scrambled), mushrooms, beans, tomato, hash brown, black pudding and doorstep toast (from homemade bread). It was much better than my photos portray. The vegan pancakes were really good and the seitan “bacon” was too. I’d happily eat both of those again no problem. I’ll definitely be back with GF when she’s not working (she’s a vegetarian, but eats fish occasionally (I know, technically she’s a pescatarian)).

Menu (some of it, anyway) for info/realistic “northern” pricing...
