is ice ever acceptable at these dos?
The effect ice has on an alcoholic drink is that it dulls the flavour. Cocktails use lots of ice because they were created by barmen in the prohibition era who needed to disguise the inferior alcohols used.Of course the only right way to drink whisky is the way you like it. That said I think you would get a lot of strange looks if you asked for ice at a whisky tasting.
But I wouldn't bank on ice being available!

Ahhhh perfect, I assumed it was "just" a retailer.
Looking forward to this chaps! Thanks for organising it Podie
TWE (The Whisky Exchange) has a shop at Vinopolis - and that's where we'll be!Looking forward to this chaps! Thanks for organising it Podie
However, as its attached to Vinopolis, there is a bar at the other side and the eatery mentioned before.
The handy thing, is that being a shop you can buy whisky too - and the other spirits they stock of the mood takes you. In fact, they also have a few barrels where you can fill your own (two sizes of bottle available).
Over a month to go and I'm already looking forward to it!

Is the tasting list finalised?
Nope. The number of people we have determines the budget, hence the 11 October cutoff for payment.
Last time I gave TWE a brief and made a request to include something Japanese as many of us had never tried it. The brief I gave them this time was that we have a wide range of tastes and experience so the oddball / unusual ones would be good to include.
If there are requests than we will try and incorporate them where possible.
