Assume that’s a link to an old news story given it claims of 3 new burgers when all those listed have been done some to death in previous great tastes of America?! I can’t see a date as I’m on my mobike as commuting but assume it must be.

Still if that is next LTO decent enough hopefully some actual new burgers rather than the previous years recycled again.

About half way down the page:

"Great Tastes of America will be available at McDonald’s from Wednesday 27th April 2016 for six weeks in participating restaurants. Each burger will be available for two weeks[1] at a time, starting with The Tennessee Stack."

They have all been done before and the big tasty appears so much it may as well be a permanent menu item. They are losing their way on the limited edition burgers

weather spoons burger taste so much nicer, the drive thru burger is amazing.

the problem with macidees is the specials are too fussy,no soul, designed by committee, too corporate, considering how many new burger joints around with new ideas, mc just feels old fashioned in comparison.

The ordering system's shocking.

But for me the straw (pun unintended) that broke the camels back was the change of straws to the 'paper' kind.

Paper straws feel terrible in the mouth. Horrific. I've not been back since.

yes

yep KFC are still doing plastic straws, and after a few of the diabolical paper ones lately, going back to plastic at KFC is a joy.

I continually strive to reduce my personal plastic usage but the War on the Straw is a step too far. Neither the paper nor the other extreme of reusable metal straws taste good. There are many worse plastic offences doing more damage than a few straws were.

I hated the new ordering system until I got the app on my phone, now I think it's bloody brilliant. Grab a 'tent', sit down and your grub comes straight to you. I'm lovin' it...

What are your views on McDonalds paper straw policy?

I have no strong views on straws, though on balance less plastic seems like a no brainer to me.

As long as they do a satisfactory job of conveying the drink from the cup to my gullet, I have no issue.

but the majority of people who eat in mcdonalds regularly and thus their biggest customer base, are probably not that adventurous when it comes to eating, so if faced with something mildly exotic and new wouldn't try it, so the stuff they get on the continent wouldn't be risked here. and such is our food culture generally of being unadventurous that probably adds to it.

in europe they eat more varied and have wider tastes and i guess mcdonalds caters for that in its more interesting options over there, even though many are just a bit different and not exactly reinventing the wheel so could easily be tried here (eg the pizza burger thing you get in Germany).

Also maybe they see the vast number of independents/small chains that do different burgers filling that gap here, so they have no need to or cant be bothered to compete? maybe the number of smaller more premium competitors doesn't exist in europe so mcd's europe does interesting stuff as well as the 'basics'

While we're on the subject of the new paper straws at McD's, they are OK for soft drinks.....but completely and utterly useless for milkshakes and iced frappes.

You're only half way through your tasty beverage and the straw is already mushy at the sooky end, badly impacting one's enjoyment unless you are fond of getting forced to lick cardboard.

As my unsolicited suggestion of the day, McD's should supply plastic straws (on request) for these types of drinks. Problem thus solved

I haven't seen them say what burgers are next but they have said that Monopoly is back on 20 March.

Good.

Why it isn’t a permanent fixture is beyond me

Made the mistake of having one of those mega macs the other day. Two dry burgers, 3 dry bits of bread, some wilted lettuce. There was a single splodge of sauce on one of the burgers, which i only found when taking it apart as i had to add my own just to be able to swallow the thing.

Plus it slowly started squeezing out the middle throughout until i was left with two mucky postage stamp bits of bun top and bottom with a third of the innards still to go. And i know burger masters may claim poor technique but I've never struggled like this before, and i eat a lot of burgers!
