Had a signature burger today, first time for a while. Decidedly tasteless unfortunately. The burger just had no flavour. Will go back to just having double cheeseburgers instead.
Did you have the spicy? If so I’m surprised by your commenttheplayingmantis said:

The double cheeseburger though, is a masterpiece. The ratios of meat to cheese, to fillings/bun. The extra maillard flavours due to the two thin patties giving much greater surface area on the grill.
I've started trying out similar principles, and it works really well. Plus, it helps to meet my house rule - no burger should ever be taller than it is wide...

I don't use McD's frequently, but I can't remember the last time I didn't have to get the food replaced because it was cold. Every single time it is two quarter-pounders and fries thrown away and two new lots made.
And yes I have tried contacting HQ, but the recent responses have been "franchise, nothing to do with us".
You should never know the difference between a company owned store and a franchise operation. Unlike our competitors we retain a lot more control. And yes I have tried contacting HQ, but the recent responses have been "franchise, nothing to do with us".
When you complain to HQ and they pass the buck to the franchisee, what do they suggest you do?
"Thank you for contacting us about your visit to our xxxxxxx restaurant. We were sorry to hear about your experience.
The restaurant you have referred to is run by our franchisee, xxxx xxxxxx. As the owner of the restaurant, they look after any customer feedback themselves. We have already passed on your message and details to xxxx xxxxxx and they or a member of their team will be back in contact with you over the next few days.
If you’d like any further help, please do reply to this email.
Thank you for taking the time to contact us"
Another words - "nothing to do with us".
And the response from the franchisee's company was a 'cut and paste' response -
I have been passed on your details from McDonald's Restaurants Ltd and their Customer Services department, regarding your visit to our Franchised McDonald's at xxxxxxx on the xx xxxxxxxx.
"I was very sorry to learn of your recent experience at the restaurant in question.
Our aim is to provide 100% customer satisfaction and our customers have the right to expect excellence in all aspects of our business. I am therefore concerned when our Quality, Service and Cleanliness does not meet the expectations of our customers and I would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to address this matter.
Your comments are very valuable to us and will be discussed with the Restaurant Manager.
In the meantime, if you should visit us again, and your order is not satisfactory please do not hesitate to contact the Restaurant directly that day on xxxxx xxxxxx and speak to any of the managers who will be happy to discuss and rectify any problems for you on the day.
Once again, I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you."
And every time since in that same McD's we go through the dance of placing an order, finding the food cold, taking it back to be replaced, then I don't think their aim is "100% customer satisfaction". But if they want to keep on wasting the food, carry on.
I agree with the bit about wasting food.
I have lost count of the number of times I have collected a a bag of meals from the McDonald's Drive-Thru or the counter, and when I have got back to work/home with it, I have discovered that it is quite simply someone else's order or something is missing.
You just have to go back in there, complain, hand them back a crumpled back of now cold food, and be handed the correct items.
The food you hand back goes in the bin.
When I go to McDonald’s now, I purposely check the contents of the bag before I walk out or drive away from the collection window.
At least I’m doing my bit to stop them wasting as much food.
It’s amazing isn’t it, we all have jobs that at times can be incredibly challenging and complex, yet these idiots cannot manage to put the correct items in a bag, despite having the most efficient and easy to understand ordering system known to man.

You don't become a billion pound company investing in people.

I disagree - McDonald's put a load of effort into training and retention of staff. They've the scale to be able to develop and deliver some pretty good corporate personal development systems. You don't become a billion pound company investing in people.
We've actively hired ex-McD's employees in the past, as even at relatively low salaries they've had great training and coaching in leadership, process, etc.

Then you have to wonder why when the label gives correct details of a special order, the people putting the burger together can't read it and get it right!
Time. They are rushing to meet time targets.Every order is timed. The person making the order has to get your order from the station to the end of the line before you get to the window.
The little black boxes at knee level as you go through the drive through log how long it takes you to get from order to pay to collect.
This new way of making the food just makes it worse. Parking up is now SOP.

Thought I'd try a big tasty instead of my usual choices.

king horrendous. One of the worst burgers I've had. Warm burger made cold with the salad, and some bizarre sauce that made me feel ill. The first mcd's burger i have not finished.
With you there, I also think the big tasty is disgusting. Don’t understand the hype.f

Big Mac or chicken sandwich all the way for me.

The big tasty is, as you say, not special.
I had one of the best, if not the best, McDonald’s I’ve ever had the other day. It was the best because it was completely fresh and piping hot. Just a Big Mac and chicken sandwich with a coke. Mmmmm

In Austria they have a menu called McFirst. Those are absolutely delicious. In Germany they have a double chilli cheeseburger which is also delicious but filthy.
I find that most of the specials in Europe are far better than in the UK. I think it was in Austria where they had a build your own burger thing from a huge list of ingredients. I even saw deep fried olives on the menu in Italy once ![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)

It did, no idea why they changed it.
10.30 is too early to eat a burger and chips IMO
Anyway some of the refurbished stores seem to operating with a different way of doing things, the Newbury McD's on the A34 has changed and my god is it bad, takes ages, long queues to eventually receive cold food.
All food is now made to order, rather than being held. So while it takes longer as least it’s always fresh, no idea how you’re getting cold food. 10.30 is too early to eat a burger and chips IMO

All I have seen at that particular store is chaos, nobody knows the process so everything just sits around waiting for someone to join the dots. Cooking to order is great but as I pointed out in my communication to HQ the rest of the process isn't working. All you have to do is watch for a while and only a blind person wouldn't see it.
I applaud you for responding on here but having worked in McDs in some of the busiest stores in London during the eighties i.e. McDonalds cola and all that, what is happening is bad. Getting Amazon to deliver the burger would not make the product any worse.
Apologies for my language but someone needs to pull their finger out of their arse and sort this out, how hard is it to serve a hot burger? Any burger van at the side of the road manages that!
I suggest everyone should put up a review on trip advisor, the ratings of the store I commented on are tanking badly.
