Photo of your dinner (vol 2)

In all the fluff I didn't photograph my Sunday roast effort. I bought a Rib Eye roast from my local butcher. Goose fat spuds and yorkshires. It was the best roast I've ever eaten. Nice and pink like yours! 35 quid off a 4 person roast, think it was 1.9 kg so should be good. Browned in a LAN, covered in English mustard, 45 mins oven

i had to google that bird-looks like a sand piper. not very big? what size shot would you us to avoid turning it into hamburger?
The dressed bird is about the size of your fist. They were minimally wounded and no shot found in them.Cooked as I did it's a reasonable main course portion - game is quite filling and the innards on toast is really satisfying - like a rich pate.
I didn't shoot these birds myself but usually drop a bird or two in the course of a season.
West Wales and Ireland have enough birds to have dedicated woodcock shooting and in that case 7s or 8s would be about right
I see woodcock when I'm pheasant shooting they get whatever is loaded up. 30g 6s or 32g 5s later in the season.
