Step way from the chains and try something cottage industry.

I can vouch for the big cheese, which is superb.

I would put X Burger, in Willesden up there with the best.
It is not centrally located, nothing fancy in terms of setting or decor, but the burgers are fantastic!

Another vote for Bodeans.
Omogus, im in Virginia Water so yes please.- If you like a good size burger and are starving then head to Ceasers in Leatherhead.
Been to Bodeans twice and to be honest, I thought the food was pretty poor and burger king produced better food. Omogus, im in Virginia Water so yes please.- If you like a good size burger and are starving then head to Ceasers in Leatherhead.
Anyways. I haven't got much to add to this thread, but shake shack in Covent Garden is worth a visit. The Thirsty Bear in Waterloo is good too.
Meat Liquour was not worth the queue. Most of places in the top ten burger list for london don't let you book. Its a real pain. Red Dog diner lets you book. I didn't enjoy my recent visit there. I think my burger would have been better if they had served it hot! Their puddings were also quite poor.
I do love a good burger, but my friends are becoming picky and will only go to places where they can book

Epic thread bump!
I'm in London next week for work and fancy a dirty burger. I'm leaning towards Meat Liquor but have there been any new places that popped up since the thread was last commented on that people would recommend?
Don't know whether I commented before, but Meat Mission in Hoxton Square produces huge, juicy burgers. There is an app, "burgerapp", that will show you the closest burger joints with ratings.I'm in London next week for work and fancy a dirty burger. All of these are good, but I'd also add Burger and Shake near Russel Square, they use potato buns on some of their burgers and they are something else!I may be biased as Lucky Chip in Dalston is a 2 minute walk from my flat, but it's one of my favourites, as is Dirty Burger which is a mere 10 minute walk from my work. I've visited most of the others on more than one occasion though.
