Maybe it's just our Lidl, possible staffing issues? But the in-store bakery has gone right down the pan. Majority of lines either not baked or sold out, most shelves empty anyway.

One thing i like buying is the vaccum packets of smoked mackerel in the fridge meats/fish section of ALDI/LIDL. Other day I wanted the piri piri one. took out a full 'box' of smoked mackerel and out of the entire box/crate only 2 of them were piri piri.

also noticed a lack of frozen pizzas. like the stonebaked spicy meat/nduja ones.
Yep, common occurrence, they buy mixed boxes or pallets and if one is more popular than the other then you end up with loads of the wrong sort and of course, the stock levels appear OK so they don't put any more out.

This is commonplace for all sorts of boxes that supposedly contain an assortment. I went through all four fresh full boxes of mixed jars of sandwich pastes, every one was chicken, no salmon or beef. The faux Activias are likewise, I like the rhubarb but the boxes are usually mostly peach, finding a rhubarb means removing two or three boxes from the shelf, ripping open a new box and still no rhubarb. Ditto the Hummus, it's nearly always red pepper, hardly ever any Moroccan or chilli.

My local Aldi's stopped bakery during coronovirus, and these have not returned.

Maybe is store specific? My local Lidl in Stratford upon Avon is still baking. Popped in on Saturday morning after my son’s swimming lesson to get croissants and pain au chocs for breakfast and everything appeared normal. My bonus buy was a sledgehammer!

I didn't know Aldi did in store bakeries, none of the ones around me do and some have only just opened. I thought it was only Lidl who did in store baking? A quick Google suggests a trial in 2020 but I've never seen on in a store.

It wasn't rolled out and they clearly used Covid as an excuse to remove it entirely.

Just a quick heads up, Lidl have their Barolo on at £8.99 which is outstanding value. I may have purchsed four bottles earlier.

Thank you - just popped by our branch - they had 2 left. I feel it would have been churlish to leave one on its own smile

Aldi was heaving this morning and there were numerous shortages. A combination of a local football event tomorrow and panic buying according to staff, with the latter, the teller said it's easily recognisable.

If it’s the butter chicken report back. I’ve had the peri peri one, it was good but too spicy for her in doors.

I scored a curry wurst at Lidl today for my lunch. Not bad at all for a microwaveable meal and a darn sight cheaper than Hermann ze German.

The Butter chicken one is excellent, teamed up with the Naan wraps they have! Really enjoyed it!

Have Aldi moved into America now?

And even there, a teller works at a bank counter; a shop assistant is a store clerk.
