Fish Friday, so bouillabaisse. Absolutely fantastic.

That looks lovely as well. I’ve never made it, but enjoyed watching Rick Stein cook it

Looks good but I’ve often wondered what is the point of soup bowls with massive rims

I'm the same. Much prefer a simple bowl.

We were given them, and Frau GenX likes them, so who am I to question…? wink

That's a good a reason as any! If she's the cook, best not to irritate her.

Plus they showed the colour of the soup better than our darker bowls smile

I always presumed the larger rim was to protect the tablecloth from sloppy eaters of soup like myself.

Doesn’t work if you tuck the tablecloth into your collar … smile

Lowering the tone somewhat, homemade chicken and mushroom tikka/tandoori/Togarashi.

Topped with a homemade pineapple and chilli sauce, with cucumber raita. Shop bought soft pita and carrot and sweet peppers.

All from scratch, probably cost less than a couple from the takeaway.

It's called a design feature. Not that hard to understand surely.

The good thing is about yoghurt marinade, the chicken stay moist with flavour from marinade. Might try a whole roast chicken.

Frau GenX went German again tonight - “schweinebraten” is basically leg of pork cooked in gravy, served with boiled potatoes, apple sauce and creamed vegetables. Absolutely delicious, typical Brauhaus food.

Food hygiene - keeps the waiter's thumb out of the soup wobble
