Extending breakfast to 11am is a good thing.

I have lost count how many times over the years I have ‘just missed’ McDonald’s breakfast.

Michael Douglas did it best though:

Reminds me of a restaurant in Limassol. Called Oshi. The tables were basically huge iPads and you could order off them. You could also select a camera in the kitchen to watch your food being cooked, order drinks instantly, change the mood with different tablecloths etc. Not just a gimmick, the foot was top notch too!

They've updated the software on the ordering screens now, so much quicker and improved UX - prior to that they were so slow and cumbersome when loading and moving from page to page

Had the Swiss burger yesterday, was pretty 'meh'.
The ordering screens where people's dirty hands touch and a swab revealed excrement on them?

What other ones are there?

Went in the Leicester Square branch for a late lunch between meetings on Thursday. The self-service screens were all (I tried three before settling on a forth) knackered. They didn’t sense touches about 75% of the time and when they did they seemed to freeze for several seconds before responding to it. A horrible experience that I’m sure many must give up on at busy times, ordering a simple meal took well over ten minutes by the time I settled on a screen and then got it to understand my order. Not somewhere that I frequent normally but the experience would make me question ever going back there.

Can't be worse than thumbing through a printed menu like in most other restaurants. At least you could have a designated dirty finger hehe

I hate how Lidle and Tesco sell their bread unwrapped these days. After holding on to a grimy trolley or basket handle, I have to bag my loaf with dirty hands. To say nothing about the random customers who might have poked the crust.

So they weren't all "knackered", as you so eloquently express it?

.
Exactly. Paper menus, wine lists and all the other stuff in restaurants must be just as bad. If people really are freaked by it then queue up or order it on the app because at least then it’s only your excrement on the screen.

Whatever you do though don’t carry it on a tray or in a bag back to to where you’re going to eat it. No idea whose excrement is on those hehe

The door handle on the way in is probably the worst offender

No, they were all knackered, I just persevered with the fourth as I clearly wasn’t going to find a fully functioning one. It, like the first three I tried, didn’t recognise about 3/4 of touches and when it did froze for an age before responding. That is knackered to me.

Collins dictionary:

2. ADJECTIVE
If you say that something is knackered, you mean that it is completely broken or worn out.
[British, informal]
...a knackered old T- shirt .
...faded pictures on a knackered TV set.

It will probably still happen to you just as often, but at 11:01am instead of 10:01am biggrin

I don’t want to come across as a McDonald’s fiend but this has been the case for a little while.

I find the app useful- I order and go through the drive through. I’ve found if you go into store your bundled in with all the Just Eats that means your wait is unacceptable.

What is disappointing since having the app in April the daily deals seem to be sparse and whilst I do have the odd Maccys the deal of get £5 off if you spend £20 is just no benefit.

Not me and I use the app daily - no reward section for me with points etc. Just offers and McCafe rewards.

I got a push notification saying it was starting tomorrow, although they can be gibberish sometimes.

So for me it will be a free double cheese burger after I've spent £25. Suits me as I usually order 2 x double cheese burgers whenever I visit.

When I was recovering from Covid a couple of weeks ago, I was still feeling rubbish and hadn't eaten much for a week. I was absolutely craving a McDonalds. Went to the local Drive-Thru and purchased a large Italian Stack meal, a 99p cheeseburger, and a 3 piece Chicken Selects...

And then ate the lot in one sitting.

The Italian stack was really nice, but the plain old 99p cheeseburger was the best. I forgot how nice they were. Perfect burger in my opinion.

The app is great for me (or bad depending on the POV)

I'll often come out of our local Maccy's with a Latte and a Big Mac for 99p.

I make full use of the offers.

I would agree. Big Tasty is great, but the Cheeseburger and the Big Mac are hard to beat.
