Totally agree, the delivery people have essentially trashed what little atmosphere these places have.
They all look like they haven't washed either themselves or their clothes, are rude, slob about, shout, put crash helmets all over tables and generally are as you say not conducive to what is essentially a family place.
The other madness is that sometimes 20-30 orders will be picked and sitting on the shelves getting colder with what little heat McD's food has, and the delivery drivers will be shouting/pestering staff for their orders. Meanwhile the half a dozen walk in customers will be waiting. I had a 20 minute wait at the one south of Redhill and left an appropriate Google review - the best bit was a manager being rude to a member of staff who simply replied "Talk to me like that again and I'll walk out."

I ordered on the app and waited in a bay yesterday, after 20 minutes I went inside and asked about my order. They ended up making it fresh and bringing it straight away with 2 extra fries and a mcflurry. Couldn't complain. It seemed like organised chaos though from what I could hear in the kitchen. Mental. (I had only ordered 2 wraps and a double cheeseburger).

I think they need to stop taking online orders sometimes, they're getting overrun. When I was there yesterday it wasn't even a peak time.

I just can't believe that MD's food is still hot by the time the delivery people have got it back to the customer.

I don’t know why, in the real busy areas, McDonald’s don’t just set up in an industrial unit just for deliveries.

The answer to that is it isn't.

I've never, ever ordered takeaway food to be delivered.
Although if it's from Mcds it's hardly ruining a good meal is it?

Lol good point. I made the mistake of ordering an indian for delivery once (and paid online in advance), never again! Think we were waiting about 1.5 hours in the end, absolute disaster.

This^^^^.

Im staggered Macdonalds have allowed this to happen. They also just dump their cars anywhere they want, completely blocking the place so no one else can get parked.

Traditionally Macdonalds have been a masterclass in how to run a business, whether you like the food or otherwise. They seem to be letting that go to st. Quickly.

I certainly do ever go in there now. Just go through drive thru so i dont have to interface with those types.

Next time, while you are waiting, punch the delivery drivers reg numbers into the government website to see how many have no tax and no MOT. And doubtless no isurance.

I generally find that takeaways like pizza, chinese, curry etc are usually plenty hot enough when they arrive provided you order from somewhere you trust who always deliver one or two orders at a time, rather than filling a car with multiple orders which will likely be cold by the time they get to you. On the rare occasion something isn't hot enough, 10-15 mins in the oven is usually enough.

I ordered a Nepalese on Friday and had it delivered* and it was certainly hot enough to serve when it arrived, without requiring a stint in the oven.

McDonalds on the other hand, is usually lukewarm to begin with, doesn't taste nice when cold, and can't be successfully reheated on delivery unlike Chinese/Indian etc. Therefore I can't see myself ever ordering a McDonalds for delivery as it just seems a sure fire way to be disappointed!

( * I was well oiled by 4:30pm on Friday after finishing work early and meeting friends in a beer garden for an after work pint, so neither me, my wife, nor any of my friends were capable of driving)

Agreed, this is what Pizza Hut do by me, they have one location that is a sit down restaurant and another location down the road that purely services the takeaway trade.

Same here, in Kingston, seperates the two much better.

There are 2 mcdonalds in Kingston, but one in a shopping centre so not much use for moped riders...
Dark kitchens (think they are called that) are the future

There is a new Mcdonalds built near work about 12 months ago and it has a separate door for 'McDelivery' which just has a couple of benches and a collection desk. I was in there last week and a just eat driver started walking up to the counter and he didn't even make it to the counter before someone sent him to the Mcdelivery bit. The one in town is awful though, drivers taking up tables waiting for orders and loads of them hanging about outside waiting for a job to come through.

We already have a number of delivery kitchens and plenty more planned to open….

I guess it’s a hard one to plan due to the franchise model where local restaurants may actually be operated by different people so there is some competition over deliveries.

While it’s a franchised business the company calls the shots when it comes to restaurant locations, including the placement of delivery kitchens. Ultimately the property holdings are all in McDonald’s Restaurants Ltd with a franchise under lease. A completely different model from the competition.

McDonalds raising the price of a cheeseburger for the first time in 14 years, from 99p to £1.19.

To be fair it’s quite impressive they’ve been able to keep it the same price for so long.

And you can be sure they won't have business insurance for their cars, which they need when using their car to make deliveries.

I had a cheeseburger from what was possibly the busiest McDonalds in the world last week. It was in Orlando, the building had three stories and it was absolute mayhem even at 10:30pm.

Anyway, point of my post is that the cheeseburger was $2.69. My son works in a McDonalds just down the road and he reckoned virtually everything that the US menu had in common with the UK one was more expensive. I’m sure it used to be the opposite.

It did yeah. Fast food stuff was always cheaper in the US in the 90s and 00s
