Tried a double cheese burger last night.

Ok can defo tell its different. Bun is better. Yay for that.

The rest of it.... not a fan. I think its maybe a step backwards. Tasted very artificial. It reminded me of taste of the burgers you used to get from road side cafes back in the 80/90s. A weird oniony burnt flavour. Also a lot of pepper.

Oh and it was cold, as in stone cold.

I ate it, but would I rush back for more, probably not.
Why didn’t you give it them back if it was stone cold?

In a true story I had stone cold kfc the other day. Tbf I walked in at 9.45 when they shut at 10 and did a big order on the machine (app wasnt allowing order due to the time)burger and wraps. I'm sure they swore when the order hit. Got home 15 mins later and it was all cold. Most got binned. And I was in the doghouse.

Fck knows why they close at 10 on a Friday night in a busy location...buggered if I was going to Camborne instead. I probably should have emailed kfc to complain but not really my thing.

You should complain. I did and they gave a full refund and a whole bucket of chicken for free.

my local independant fried chicken place are always trying to do bargains near closing times. I've seen some of them even stand by the entrance, scouting for hungry drunks.

Yep, used to do that when we walked home from the pub in my younger days past a Morleys. Pop in and negotiate with bossman how many wings we could get for the least amount of money rofl They were going to get chucked so we used to do pretty well.

On the other end of the scale, once made the mistake of going through a McDs drive-through just before closing, mate wanted 3 chicken selects. The guy said sorry we've only got a box of 5 left. Cue puzzled looks between everyone in the car. The conversation then went:

"Ok, well I only want 3."
"But we've only got 5"
"I know, so give me 3 of them"
"Can't do that"
"Yes you can. Open the box, take 3 out and put them in a box for 3."
"What would we do with the other 2?"
"Not my problem mate, eat them?"

Refused to give us 3, we left empty handed and I assume they binned the 5. Couldn't make it up, this was years ago as well so when we moan that the service has gotten worse, I'm not so sure!

Normally I would but we were already on the motorway so couldn't just nip back

Was this Penzance? They were great 15 years ago, terrible now.

KFC really is expensive now though. We went last week and a boneless banquet is £23 now. I remember we used to have one of those for like £12, we’d get a bottle of cherry brandy and eat chicken, drink cherry brandy and Pepsi max and have a great time.

They do pretty good deals though, they've been running their 20 wings for £10 promo for a while.

I agree though, I remember a Family Feast (with Viennetta!!) being like £12 back when I was a kid, we are talking 20 years or more now though rofl

Likely council ordinance.

Local McDs asked to open 24h on Fri and sat, council said no. So they must close at 11:00.

McDs 10 mins further away in a different borough can open 24/7

You know it. I've never actually seen them busy.

I had my second Wendy's ever today. The single burgers with the salad are quite nice, but the double bacon burgers are too stodgy. In the pictures it looked like the bacon would be nice and crispy, but turned out as flaccid as you get from McDonalds.

Chips very nice taste, but not very warm and I was expecting a bigger portion. The frosty is like a cross between a KFC krushem and a McFlurry. The McFlurry being vastly superior.

The best place to get a reasonably priced burger is usually a half-decent pub.

US has gone a tad crazy since covid. Huge increases in salaries for these sorts of jobs, etc. Massive inflationary bubble in bars and restaurants.
