Premium brand / price - inferior product?
Discussion
Supermarket culture is deeply embedded in society whether we like it or not. They are PLC's in a dog fight with one another just like the banks and energy providers. Many of their staff and managers will fail to see what their behemoth employers are doing to manipulate consumers in to paying extra for what is, in many cases, regular food in glitzy packaging.
Without packaging they would struggle to differentiate products and price points. The way we would buy food would change drastically and people would probably have a narrower product selection as they would be less likely to try new things without the reassurance that the box offers.
Having said all of this, I still look forward to going so that I can conveniently buy what I want in comfort. Even if I do walk around scowling at the silly 'offers' designed to reel us all in.
