Because people like you are ruining dogs! I grew up with dogs for most of my life and they got bones, chocolate, mince pies, whatever the family as eating and they loved it. For the miniscule risk of the bone splintering the poor dog is missing out on a delicious meaty treat smile

They also went for joyful walks in all weathers bounding thru snow and running around on hot days too. We threw sticks for them to fetch and they dutifully chased them down and sometimes brought them back.
Apologies for the derail but not tolerating your bks , FYI I live in an extreme climate , plus 40c/minus 40c our dogs sometimes get bones but always have numerous antlers on the go . I live on a ranch so please don’t lecture me on animal welfare!!
I'm not tolerating your atypical +-40C bks to generally negate the fact that people like you are ruining dogs. I really couldn't care that you live on a ranch. I live in an apartment, but in an only lightly more tenuous link to animals, I do work for an animal healthcare company. Let dogs be dogs. FFS. Give them the f**king bone, cooked or not. They love it.

So you're feeding bones to your own dogs and this whole derail has been a pointless, soggy soapbox for you to stand on..? confused

The point in question is not whether to give a dog a bone or not, it's whether the bone is cooked or not. Various kennel clubs, vets and animal welfare organisations globally say not to give cooked bones to dogs because they can splinter in the mouth and cause internal injury. Other people say its fine to do it because their dog has never been injured eating a cooked bone.

Anyway, back to overpriced pre-cooked supermarket meat...

He is but not necessarily cooked ones. I’d also heard it’s dangerous for them so prefer not to give ours cooked bones. She loves a raw one every so often and after carrying it round for half an hour, she promptly buries it under a cushion so nobody pinches it.
I think we’re all agreed that traditionally dogs have never been much use with an oven smile

Thank God for that.... bow

Anyway the Tesco one is already pre cooked and the buyer slowly warms it up. Maybe the Tesco one is pricey due to the costing of cooking it? Maybe.
