McDonald's chips are great. I really cannot stand "classic" Fish n Chip shop ones. I have never, ever had nice chips from any of them. They've always been soft, bendy, never feel cooked enough - really quite unpleasnt.

Don't most people like them crispy and crunchy?

And who makes MaccyD fries ? Well - it starts the same. McCain.
They have people who will go to the restaurants to show staff how to fry to get best results - some of the staff occasionally need extra training.

The only problem with the recipe for those fries is they lack the essential ingredient that makes McDonalds fries taste like McDonalds fries - BEEF!

The article's wrong - the secret is in the oil! smile

"The McDonald's Corporation most likely drew on these advances when it eliminated beef tallow from its french fries. The company will not reveal the exact origin of the natural flavor added to its fries. In response to inquiries from Vegetarian Journal, however, McDonald's did acknowledge that its fries derive some of their characteristic flavor from "an animal source." Beef is the probable source, although other meats cannot be ruled out. In France, for example, fries are sometimes cooked in duck fat or horse tallow."

It's not rocket science. Put chips in fryer and press timer. When it first beeps you remove and shake the basket, when it beeps again the spuds are cooked. Add salt and serve. If not sold before they go cold (IIRC 10 mins) they should be binned smile
