In Asda the other day and saw they had Asda branded mini DFF's on offer for £17, which seemed cheap but they looked a bit small and gash. Next to these however they had stainless steel Hinari 3 litre ones, but with no price tag. I was very suprised when I enquired and the bod came back and told me they were only £9! Suffice to say, I bought one.

Had it a few days now and haven't had a chance to use it yet. What can I put in it? Give me some suggestions/recipes!

Honestly? You need the PH Collective to tell you what to put in a deep fat fryer?

Yeah, chips will obviously have to be done at some point, just got to brush up on my triple cooking technique.

I might go down the tempura route, I'll have a chat with some of my dads chefs and see if they have any good suggestions.

I've never had a DFF, never really ate anything deep fried in my childhood, never used one, therefore they are all a bit unkown to me.

Any suggestions appreciated!

£9, I'm having one! I'm sick of making triple cooked chips with a pan and thermometer!

What is triple cooking?

I just cook home made chips on the hob, with 1cm thick oil and some rock salt? Is that bad or something? They turn out great!

lol...yes I know it looks like a kids meal...but I'm still a kid wink

Well, quite.

I loathe fried food but would like to try tempura and deep-fried courgette flowers some day.

Not to mention chips. In full fat food filth version: beef dripping lick

I hate oily foods in general, but since I started using groundnut oil things have improved. tempura is good, as are gyoza, onion bhaji, home made dim sum & prawn toast. i aim to have a bash at making doughnuts at some point too.

eta - breaded camembert or brie with rasperry dip
