As the title says really, I love my cheese on crackers, but just feel it needs something on it.

Any ideas for a sauce or pickle?

TIA

I try not to post negative stuff - but really? Try to find a tastier life where cheese and crackers have no significance.

Cranberry chutney works for me, particularly with a mature cheddar. I get it from Tesco, its a family run jar for about 90p.

Yes, and better biscuits too.

Having said that, there are a number of things that a gentleman can take with his cheese of an evening, for example walnuts, figs, or perhaps a nice fruit chutney.

Maybe try a few different crackers... there are ones with poppy seeds, sesame seeds etc. And as MC has already said, try tastier cheeses. I'm partial to a bit of Applewood smoked cheddar.

Failing all that, Marmite is good (if you like it), and I find mango chutney goes well with hard cheese.

chutney or onion jam. but then I'm dirty when it comes to cheese, I'll use picallili or even rasperry preserve.

...or a pickled onion. Home-made, conker brown and spiked with chillies, they're the perfect accompaniment to a strong cheddar.

Cheese I have is Extra Mature Cheddar, and a onion relish seems the trick!

Thanks to the 'non' sarcastic posters!

Julie and Sharpie's hot pepper jelly, or any of their chutneys are rather nice.

Make some chilli jam/relish. I don't even like cheese, but when I've got the munchies I can handle abit of cheddar and biscuits with this stuff loaded on it.

Drop the crackers and get better cheese (French style).

or failing that quince chutney or onion marmalade for cheddar
and chilli jam with stilton/blue cheese.

One of my neigbours had some rhubarb from me and returned a jar of rhubarb chutney, it's fantastic with cheese & crackers.

A good red onion chutney. Stonking with mature cheddar and crackers.

Cracker - butter - Stilton.

I'm a Branston/chutney/pickle fan but Stilton needs no dressing. Well maybe a bit of celery.

If you like Cheddar, try honey. Weird but nice!
