Kellogs Ricicles/sugar police
Discussion
Not always the easiest to find cereal, but upon browsing a number of supermarkets in recent weeks and found none, today googled it and discovered they have been discontinued due to the sugar content!!
im devastated.
frosties being reformulated too which is bad, but ricicles just cut. i doubt they sold many but my fave and a taste of childhood.
the sugar tax/police whatever it is really p's me off.
if i want to put ste down my throat i should be allowed to, as long as i accept the consequences. I understand if i eat crap i then need to do extra exercise or modify my future diet accordingly.
the government should'nt force/encourage companies to produce lower sugar products. there should be choice. if a load of fatties with no self control can't limit there intake of unhealthy stuff they should be denied NHS treatment for weight related issues. the rest of us shouldnt suffer. likewise if their too stupid not to feed their kids a load of crap to make them fat too the rest of us shouldnt be punished by limiting our choice of products.

We had a meeting at work about it yesterday. Full fat cans of coke etc are going to have to go up 33p due to tax. R Whites lemonade has already gone sugar free 9 months ago and hardly anyone has noticed.
Most bars are going to serve sugar free drinks as standard now, so coke zero with your JD. Also tonics etc are being brought into the sugar free zone, at the moment Schweppes does not meet the sugar free, but Britvic does.
I was amazed by the impact it is going to have in the industry.

It pisses me off no end, as someone who is basically allergic to aspartame it means there is pretty much one fizzy drink left for me to enjoy and that's full fat coke! Also anything with aspartame in tastes like arse, it's awful stuff I really don't see how they can just say "it tastes the same" it really fking doesn't.
Anything labelled "sugar free" is bound to be fking stuff with sweeteners, usually Aspartame and it pisses me off no end!
Why oh why as a fully fledged grown up am I not allowed to make an informed decision on what I put in my body? Why can I not just pay the sugar tax and have Dr Pepper or Lucozade or a fking yogurt? s!

The problem with accepting the consequences is that whilst you might be willing to suffer whatever illness you get, someone else foots the bill.
That said, I do agree that I should be able to eat and drink what I want because I eat and drink crap in moderation.
no i said fatties shouldn't get nhs treatment. so no one foots the bill. they should just be left to get on with it and hThat said, I do agree that I should be able to eat and drink what I want because I eat and drink crap in moderation.
i have private med so my attitude is a bit i'm alright jack, but still i don't think the nhs should be free for lifestyle related illnesses (smoking/being a greedy pig) i draw the line at those.
arguments could be made about other lifestyle choices, ie sports injuries, driving too fast etc that could cause hospital visits potentially, but for those you are unlucky to get ill effects from them
...smoking and being obese are known, proven detriments to health, so for those you are lucky if you dont suffer from any illnesses as a result.

Do Sugar Puffs still exist then?
Is the Honey Monster on the dole?
yes and their rank now. horrible reformulation. Is the Honey Monster on the dole?
i saw a program about cereal once, they did a taste test of the 20 years ago (or similar) cornflakes formula to today's and the old one was apparently incredibly and unbearably salty. maybe the same will be true in 10 years of the reduced sugar cereals, but too me at least changing the sweetness of something that has always been and is meant to be sweet is going to be different to saltiness.

I have just checked my cereal store and have both Frosties and Cheerios so looked at nutrition on both per 30g serving...im devastated.

Frosties Cheerios
Energy 113kcal 174kcal
Fat 0.2g 3.3g
of which saturates 0.03g 1.4g
Carbs 26g 28g
of which sugars 11g 11g
Fibre 0.6g 2.7g
Protein 1.4g 7.1
Salt 0.25g 0.40g
To me it looks like Frosties are healthier so why mess?

Whats the bet 15 years down the line it turns out artificial sweetners turn out to be way worse for you than sugar and they start to turn on the people who bought aspartme powered cars as per the governments encouragment.
Where have we seen this before?
Sweeteners like Aspartame are absolutely fking horrible stuff. They are a migraine trigger at the very least. Anyone who eats/drinks this stuff on a regular basis will be regretting it in the future I am sure.Where have we seen this before?
