Nice (raw) steak - where to buy?
Discussion
Hi all,
In the absence of anything to buy for my father who has (literally) everything one man could want, I've decided to buy him a nice steak for Christmas and then cook it for him. I'm in Hampshire but probably travelling to London or Reading on Christmas Eve to buy all my presents. I'm looking for some steak around £20 since I'm such a poor student, any ideas?
Thanks,
HH

Look for one of these, they have them on most High Streets in most towns, they are called 'Butchers shops'.
Twenty quid should be more than enough for a couple of decent steaks, if you don't know what cut to buy, ask the butcher.
Slightly tongue in cheek but so true, try looking for a butchers. As we don't know where you are coming from or going to it's impossible to say but rest assured there are loads of decent butchers between Hampshire and Berkshire just waiting to flog you £20/worth of decent fillet steak (or rib-eye). That said when are you going to cook it? Boxing day? Don't freeze it for heavens sake, I don't know about the rest of you but I never find I get that cooked on the outside & bloody in the middle result once a steak's been frozen... Oh I don't know, I tried grilling some frozen fish last night. The outside was perfectly cooked and the inside was still ice!(I defrost steak by using the middle sink full of hot water and leaving it until floppy)
