Sitting having a couple of cans o' carlsberg with the missis tonight, thinking we need something new to try. So, any nice, unusual beers that you guys and gals would recommend? Only got the girlsberg as it was 3 crates for 20 quid!

Well the OH likes lager, but I'm not fussed, just something different and new to me! I like stuff like Bishop's Finger or Adnams Broadside, but open to anything!

Morissons supermarket have a great selection of bottled beers. As do Tesco but they are the spawn of Satan on here so don't let on that you go there wink
So tescos = bad on here... ill bear that in mind! Although if its cheap and sells beer, what's the problem?!

Bitburger.
Where can you get this from? Had it on draught a few times but never by the bottle.

Cheers

If you're anywhere near the Midlands there's a small brewery called Purity in Warwickshire

Ubu on draft is a thing of wonder.
Not really near the midlands, I'm a Suffolk boy! I will recommend any of the Earl Soham brewery ales, bloody good stuff! Although they generally knock me for 6!

Thanks for all the suggestions, think ill just go and have a look, buy a few of each and drink away! Had a can of lynx at lunch (not deodorant before anyone says!), definitely would not recommend that one!

We had banana beer in the pub I work in a couple of years ago. I was a light ale with actual bananas put in during the brewing process. It was interesting.
Wells Banana Bread Beer -

A seasonal cask beer, but more commonly available in bottles at a higher strength.
An interesting sounding brew, i've never had it, but i have heard from a few landlords that have served it on draught in their pubs that the flavour of the beer clings to the pipes for ages after the beer has finished and is impossible to shift!

Have had Waggledance from W&Y once or twice and that can be quite quaffable indeed!

OP, try a few summery pale ales, similar looking to lagers, but they have soooo much more taste!
Adnams Explorer, Hopback Summer Lightning and Oakham JHB are good bets (esp the formers other beers too, fantastic brewery)
It was this stuff from Caledonian (makers of Deuchars) that we had
Want to try either of these, sounds good! Would never have thought of bananas in beer... wonder if you could get other flavours...
