They have Kirk Hammet's "Flying V" (I always associate the flying V with Randy Rhodes) but didn't mention "Greenie" his more famous guitar ... (previously owned by Peter Greene and Gary Moore).

A list akin to the Rolling Stone greatest guitar player list.
If I were looking for famous Canadian guitarists and wanted some memorabilia - it wouldn't be Neil Young or Joni Mitchell.

I’d have thought EVH’s frankenstrat or Mark Knofler’s ‘36 National would have been on the list.

Also May’s Homemade Red special would also have been irreplaceable.

Interesting read, thanks smile

Edit - just been reading the articles comments! Sorry for being an echo ….!

I suspect that, for most of the world, non-guitarists would recognise the Red Special.

As a guitar player, I'd nominate Green's Les Paul and EVH's Kramer "Frankenstrat" as important instruments.

A lovely concept for an article, but a strange selection of guitars.

Genuinely surprised no Guthrie mention - probably one of the first instantly recognisable 'modified' guitars; Mary Ford, too.

Yes, a strange list and one written by a non-guitarist I suspect. Prince's Telecaster is much more iconic for me. Also, no Greenie, no Gilmour black Strat, and Page's Number 1 Les Paul is far more special that his double neck.

It's not "most famous", it's "most irreplaceable".

Red Special should still be on that list though.

Odd list.

I'd have had Rory Gallaghers Strat on there.

A surprising list, not just for inclusions [ Prince ffs ? ] but the omissions.

Buddy Holly, Hendrix, Duane Allman, Johnny Winter.

Rick beato did this discussion a while back with several big you tube guitarists ,the only debate was the red special vs frankenstrat .

Those two I mention are like the Batmobile , all but the prince one on the list are the equivalent of a golf gti driven by a famous person .

Loads missing. Notably Claptons the fool SG. But also if they wanted different, something like Django reinhardt’s gypsy acoustic with the wide sound hole is inseparable from the man and his music.
