I've just got myself a new setup and have been revisiting some classic stuff, today I've had on
Bizets Carmen,
The Queen live albums,
Metallica S&M,
Mylo's Destroy Rock % Roll

Amongst others. All fantastic, testing stuff, great to turn out the lights and lose myself.

What else can I try? I love all types of music, from Classical to Latin house.

Any more 'must have' live albums?

And anyone who tells me to listen to Dark side of the Moon gets an e-kick in the face!

Kate Bush's "Hounds of Love" tends to work out my System quite well. "Big Sky" is one of those tracks that can be easily messed up by a bad system.

Ministry - Psalm 69, I always use it when testing speakers before I buy because of the bassiness, the huge guitar sound and the samples, if the speakers can handle all that they can handle anything!!!

I just dug out Leftfield - Leftism. That was an excellent choice, cranked it up and got it thumping.

Any more?

LFO - LFO.

Don't listen, just feel the sub-base if your speakers are up to it!

Another thumbs up for Hounds of Love by Kate Bush - a phenomenally well recorded album. Also, So by Peter Gabriel. Daniel Lanois is a master and Red Rain is a real test of anyone's speaker/amp combination.

The OP asked for 'Live' albums

So here goes:-

1) Made IN Japan - Deep Purple
2) Strangers in the Night - UFO
3) Live and Dangerous - Thin Lizzy
4) Live At Leeds - The Who
5) How The West Was Won - Led Zeppelin
6) Any of the MTV Unplugged Albums especially the 3 compilations
7) On Stage - Rainbow

EPs

1) Maiden Japan - Iron Maiden
2) On Stage - Kate Bush

A fairly heavy rock biased selection, bt its a starter for 10

Whilst not actually "live" there is an audience at the start of George Michael's track "Move On" which is on the Older LP.

Some really deep bass which will test your system on that track. I always take this one along when considering buying new equipment.

Try this, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Todd-Rundgren/dp/B0000032W... if you can find it on vinyl.

Technically not live but

Ten Rapid - Mogwai, will be a nice test.

As will EP+6 and Young Team. Making music out of distortion is a goood test of a setup. Cheap and nasty systems will sound bad, but a good system will make it epic

He actually asked for any suggestions "and" if there were any Live albums that anybody could recommend. I tend to find "live" albums a bit underwhelming in the technical dept. no matter how well they have been recorded. However how about "Live in the Air Age" By Be-Bop Deluxe
