I remember going to the SEC gig on that 'Down To Earth' tour.

When the lights went up there was this collective "WTF?" moment as this bloke was at the mic with short hair and wearing a jacket and tie. Didn't help that he forgot the lyrics to 'Since You've Been Gone' halfway through...

It was even worse for him because they were following Samson, who were then fronted by Bruce Dickinson.

How the fk did Money by the Flying Lizards find it's way on to a roller disco LP??? It's hard to think of a less suitable song to play in a roller disco.

The Shadows first album, 1961. Saved up for ages, twelve shillings and sixpence. A fine photo on the cover of the boys in hand knitted sweaters, looking cool.

Do you still own 3 feet high and rising?

Other than the usual suspects, ie Elvis, Beatles, Stones etc not many records increase much in value but for some reason that one has, last time I looked they were going for around £20-25.

Damn fine album, still play it and have the cd with the extra cd too.

Strictly speaking it was a cheap release of Jesus Christ Superstar that I bought in Boots! First rock album was Close to the Edge and the Steven Wilson remaster on my turntable a couple of weeks ago.

I'm a big fan of Steven Wilson, both his solo work and with Porcupine Tree etc. What do you think of his CTTE remix?

Sorry I missed this!

Have it on CD, the vinyl is still at my Mums in the loft I believe.

I have a turntable set up at home now in my loft so guess I should go and reclaim it and give it a whirl. It is still definitely a great album, even if 90% wasn’t theirs!

One of them LPs with a track on the record not on the sleeve I seem to remember.

(or is it one that's got a song on it the same name as the band?)

This was an early one for me too. I had it new at boarding school and subsequently my copy has "Property of generationx" on the sleeve and centre decal! Listened to it to death.

I was listening to this again recently in the car - it's still good stuff.

My brother had this one, I remember the cover very well, and I also remember thinking at the time (I was nine) that Adam Ant was the coolest person I had ever seen!

My friend says several women he knows (of similar age to him) all share the opinion that, at the time and all through the 80s, Adam Ant was knicker-droppingly sexy too.

The first vinyl LP I bought was:

as soon as I had a record player.

Before that I had bought cassettes as I only had a cassette player! The first two were both Moody Blues - 'On the threshold of a dream' and 'A Question of Balance'
