Yup.....I could never play proper Fender Strats until I started to swap the volume pot with the middle tone - and use the other tone as a master tone.......without that mod I always keep turning myself down over the course of a song! Stupid place for a volume pot IMHO - but I am a self confessed LP player....
Guitars are a bit like cars, the more you swap between different ones the easier you will find it. Although with the Fiesta and MX-5 I keep forgetting the indicators are on opposite sides; I wonder what the guitar equivalent of that is?

I'm getting a hankering for a nice Tele, been offered one ('61 reissue) for £300 as new but unfortunately it's the wrong time of the year frown

John
Might have a home for that if it's still going?

Yeah true.....though I have loads of LP's, ES's, Suhr's, Tyler's ,PRS's, and Tele's ........but it's only Strats that I struggle with - I'm fine with all the "SuperStrats" that I have etc.......just that proximity of the Volume pot on Strats - it's where I want to rest my pinky to support my right hand, and also in the way when I strum - I can work around it for the stability issue - but in doing so it seems it exacerbates the problem of me turning it down inadvertently whilst riffing/strumming.....my mod is dead easy and completely solves the problem - the volume pot itself stays in situ - but it simply doesn't work anymore !

TBH, I'd find that a bit of a pain, I use a lot of gain on the amp and use the volume pot to go clean or dirty as I play. simply removing the knob means you can't knock it accidentally, but you can still wind the volume up and down as you need.

I do exactly the same - and I therefore still have a volume pot - but it moves to the middle knob position - - the middle "tone" knob becomes the volume knob...and the lower "tone" knob becomes a master Tone knob.......

Oh, right, I see what you mean now. Not an option for me as I have EMG pups and the tone knobs do different jobs.

I ordered one of these yesterday after reading numerous reviews on beginners guitars. Ive never played, or even held a guitar, in my life but to play one is something ive always wanted to do so decided to take the plunge.

Picked this up a little while ago.

Words cannot express how much I love it...

2011 Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster Custom Deluxe FMT HSS... what a name!

Birdseye maple neck, abalone fret markers & top markers, CS deluxe two-point tremolo, Seymour Duncan TB-11 'Custom Custom' humbucker, 2x Master Design singlecoils, locking Schaller tuners, AA flamed maple top finished in Candy Blue (stained wood, pearlescent transparent lacquer), with a swamp ash body underneath.

Pretty much plays itself. smile
Well......having stared at this guitar porn since this was originally posted and following Animal's link I finally bought it last week. music Is perfect.

Pics or it never happened. wink

They are wonderful guitars. Mine spends a lot of time being stared at on my wall.

Might be a Jeff Beck in Surf Green keeping it company soon!

Being a sentimental type, this is the best picture so far. Best of luck!

Me?

It's down to a '60 or a '63. The 60 is the better guitar by reason of the slab board neck but is less original than the 63, both refins. The '63 is edging it.
