ABC at the Liverpool Philharmonic next week.

Paul.weller at Scarbourgh outside in July

I'd like to see Theatre of Hate and Spear of Destiny, who i have never seen, but have been into since the early 80s but the only gig I can see in 2024 is in London at the 100 club, and I'm not that arsed to travel that far south for any reason.

The last gig I went to.was Jesus and Mary chain at Coventry Poly in 1986.
Or maybe it was The London Beat in the Biko bar in the same building. I think 16 people were in the audience.

Henge last night. Always entertaing. However, the support was a two piece dance act, Dogshow. I can honestly say it's the first time I've seen two guys dressed in dog masks wheel a cart out into the middle of the audience with keyboards on one side, drums on the other, a revolving sign on top of it and do a show

End of the first tune, someone shouted 'Good boy' hehe

Third time seeing them (as a support act in 2022 & Slamdunk last year) - really good live. Should be v.good as headline & it's a venue I've not been to.

Currently got booked

March - Pendulum
April - Thirty Seconds to Mars
June - Smashing Pumpkins/Weezer

All in Birmingham and all with Mrs Bodhi, hence seeing 30 Seconds in a trade for Pendulum smile

She's also got VIP tickets for Taylor Swift in Liverpool, which I am slightly jealous of.

Roisin Murphy supported by Crazy P in Bristol tomorrow night. My first visit back to the former Colston Hall (now The Beacon) so will be interesting to see what the multi million refurb looks like

the former lead singer of Moloko puts on a great live show; she is mental (in a very good way)

Sea Power last night at The Albert Hall in Manchester. Absolutely bloody brilliant they were. My Mrs had no clue what they were about & fancied a night in town, very pleasantly surprised she was too. I’ve been a fan of the band for years & have seen them many times but last nights gig really hit the spot, sound was great too, all the instruments sounded great & the new drummer is a fine replacement. Solid 9.5/10 for me.

Going to see them tomorrow night in Glasgow. Looking forward to it, seen them at least half a dozen times before. I'll keep an eye out for the polar bear.

We've then got OMD in Edinburgh and Glasgow next month.

I was going to book to eat at The Quarter before hand but we did that before a *# feminist comedy gig at the Everyman in January and doing 2 things in one evening was too tiring for my wife (she has ME/CFS). So probably have afternoon tea before we leave. P

  • #* Feminist comedy gig at the Everyman? Fem de la Fem. Its a monthly thing £5 entry in advance. Properly funny. 50% LGBT and 50% Menopausal divorcees, a couple from both groups. all fairly amateur but one lady was more professional and testing out new material. It was proper funny. Can recommend.
Oh and I won the raffle, so we are going to see a play at the playhouse called My Beautiful Laundrette. If you aren't comfortable with your own sexuality, or are hiding in a closet, it might not be for you.

Tonight we are also heading to Manchester to see The Gap. At Hope Mill Theatre in Ancoats. Matthew Kelly and Dennis Walsh play all the characters.

Whoops gone off topic from Music to Theatre.

I saw them last week (no polar bears in Tunbridge Wells) and enjoyed them very much too (4th time I’ve seen them). The Albert Hall looks a lovely venue - I’ll definitely look out for stuff there to see with my NW-based pals.

I only realised that the new drummer was Thomas White about 20 minutes from the end. Very talented guy - he’s from Electric Soft Parade and Brakes for whom he plays guitar. Also, he plays drums in Graham Coxon’s side project The Waeve and I think he played with Sparks too in the past.

Wow, didn't know he had re formed the band. Last saw them supporting Jellyfish (What a band they were!) at the Wedgewood Rooms, Pompey in 1993!

AC/DC at Wembley in July. Saw them first time in '79 at the Apollo, utterly amazing. Saw them 40 years later at The Etihad (Axl Rose singing), and left before the end. Shall I bother? Maybe not which is odd because i still listen to them more than any other rock band.
