Adele's version of Make You Feel My Love floats my boat over Bob's reading.
Billy Joel's version is better.

David Grey - Say Hello, Wave Goodbye.

Heartbreaking. cry
I had no idea that was a cover until this post, David Gray should be given this one to keep.
Not IMO.
With you on that one. The original is a classic.
Heard the original on the radio the other day - I'm with the first two, David Gray can definitely keep it.

Holy necrothread!

Since this thread is running on worst covers, I thought I'd apply the defibrillator to this thread smile

I really can't make my mind up on Delilah's "Go"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YelL9baa6YA

Maybe it's a grower, and it's not strictly a cover as it doesn't have the chorus or indeed say "ain't nobody loves me like you do". So probably doesn't belong in this thread either but I'm sure as hell not going to start a 3rd thread.

Wherever I Lay My Hat, I prefer the Paul Young version with Pino Palladino on fretless bass rather than Marvin Gaye's original and I am partial to a bit of Marvin's other stuff.

Bettered still by this version.

(I genuinely like this paperbag )
Haha, I loved this!

The original bored me stless! It was fun seeing the Oasis crowd getting wound up by this.

Has Joe Cockers version of 'With a little help from my friends' been mentioned yet? Had a quick flick through the pages and haven't seen it, which IMO is surprising..

Edit: Duh! Two posts above! ^^

Agreed. The original is a masterpiece in my eyes. I love The Jam too but this baffles me. Bloody awful!

There are probably a lot of Beatles fans about, they're everywhere!

But the Joe Cocker version of "I get by..." just came on Rock Radio. Love it!
I don't normally like listening to recordings of live gigs, but I'll make an exception for that.

Not sure if johnny cash's cover of the nine inch nails song "hurt"

One of the most poignant songs of all time, Cash knew he was on his way out and this was his goodbye.

Yeah. Totally awesome and I can seldom hear it without getting damp-eyed at the very least.
