Got 2 tickets for manchester, and agree £160 each is pretty steep! although I think we’ve got ‘pit’ standing, and to be fair I paid that for springsteen/ GnR last year too….

Ticketmaster are exactly the monopoly that PJ tired to fight against.

Another one going to Pearl Jam - got four tickets to one of the Sydney shows in November. Could only get general admin tickets by the time I got to the front of the queue - $225 each which is about £120 - no seats available.

They’re a band I’ve always wanted to see but have missed every damn time so decided to go regardless

It’ll just be us four and about 25,000 close friends in an outdoor stadium….

Yes, it seems strange the PJ should let this go on unremarked or even with their knowledge.

Would love to go and see Pearl Jam again but not paying £160. Last time I saw them it was a fiver and the day before "Ten" was released over here.

Just added Gary Numan at Bournemouth, seen him doing the 2 classic albums before a long time ago but still absolutely brilliant live so couldn't miss it.
By the time I got round to buying (on the day the tickets went on sale), loads had sold out - closest with tickets was Norfolk! Bought tickets anyway because I have a good feeling about him.

He won't disappoint and that'll be a great venue to see him at too, hope you enjoy.

I've added Red Fang at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham this August. I've seen them twice, both times supporting Mastodon, but not since 2017. New venue for me as well. Can't wait!

Saw Tesseract at the Kentish Town forum on Friday night, I can confirm they are really bloody good! During the concert the lead singer asked who there was at their first Tesseract gig and probably more than half the audience put their hands up, including me. That last album 'War of Being' really pushed them to new heights, I'd recommend a listen for anyone that likes a bit of prog metal, lead singer Daniel Tomkins has got a very impressive vocal range too.

Pearl Jam - dublin in june (1st time)
Madness - belfast in august (for umpteenth time)

£110 per ticket for PJ. Love how ticketmaster put you in that virtual queue but dont tell you the price! Marlay Park is one of the few venues in Dublin ive never been at and I missed PJ in Belfast a few years back but those prices are ridiculous

Going to have to hand in my man card for admitting this, but I went to Taylor Swift in Sydney on the weekend (my wife has been a fan since Taylor Swift was a fairly obscure 'country bumpkin' artist back when George Bush was still president). I'd managed to nab a couple of tickets via my credit card 'VIP' allocation last year as all the normal ones had sold out, and she was kind enough to take me as it meant not having to pick a best friend.

As to the show itself, I wasn't expecting to really enjoy myself but honestly it was great. I only knew about 1/4 of the songs (the ones with lots of airplay on radio basically) but even the ones I didn't know I still generally liked. She is a superb performer who was far better than I expected in terms of live sound, with an insane amount of energy to be doing a near four hour set night after night, all with very elaborate costume and stage changes. I went in indifferent and came out a bit of a fan if I'm being honest. I don't care for the absurd level of celebrity she has reached, and think a lot of her relationships etc are all 'stage managed' to raise her profile, but man can she put on a great show.

The worst thing by far about going to a Taylor Swift concert is the fans. Most are of course well-behaved but very enthusiastic (nothing wrong with that) but I've never come across an artist with such aggressive "gate keeping" by so many fans ... basically if you don't dress up in an elaborate outfit, or you don't know all the words to every song, or if you don't know all the "lore" around Queen TayTay then you're not deserving of attending and I definitely got some weird looks and comments as I just stood and watched .I was also not enjoying the guy behind me who oscillated between being in hysterical tears to screaming every word - along with random hype-man gibberish - for the entire concert.

I've got Matchbox 20 with Goo Goo Dolls as the opening act coming up this week, so excited for that. Won't be a patch on "TayTay" atmosphere-wise and in terms of stage show but both bands have had some great tunes in their time.

Have tickets to Coldplay in Melbourne later this year as well (couldn't get any to one of the NZ shows). I saw them about 10 years ago and loved it, so looking forward to doing it all over again.

Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox 20 last night were great. Wound up going alone as my wife couldn't go and I couldn't sell the ticket or find another guest with an hour's notice, but had a fantastic time nonetheless.

Rob Thomas sounds just about as good live as he does on the records, the band was excellent, and they kept the crowd engaged the entire time. It was nice hearing music live that I'd really enjoyed listening to growing up. Huge contrast going from nearly 100k watching TayTay to about 8000 people in a little indoor arena within the space of a week, but I'm glad I fronted up the cash for both.

Yep; a sad day.

I saw them at the Leeds Festival in 2006 and it was a wonderful gig. I would liked to have seen them again but I won't pay those prices for any gig, under any circumstances. Putting a tour on is expensive, no doubt about it, but that is blatant price gouging.

I'm surprised Ticketmaster's dominance doesn't contravene some form of anti-competition legislation here in the UK.

Surprised no-one has mentioned Fish’s farewell tour:

I’ve got tickets for London & Glasgow (actually 2025), but I’m also considering going to one of the European dates in 2024, maybe Krakow.

We also have Simple Minds in March and UB40 in April, Hue & Cry in November and The Lightening Seeds in December

I’m gutted to have missed Suede & The Manics at the Eden Project. Scrap that, decided to bite the bullet and get tickets from Viagogo.

couple of good nights this week at Ronnie Scott's....

first off Gabriels as part of the Warchild charity Brits week. Great to see acts in venues generally 2 sizes smaller than their usual. Sat in the front row with Jacob belting it out right in front of me. Didn't get on stage until after 1am as this was after their regular gig earlier in the evening.

then Ego Ella May; British/Nigerian soul singer. Adapted her arrangements to suit the jazz venue and was wonderful live.

Good man.

I've just booked for Liverpool after reading your post.

But didn't Mr Fish do this a few years ago ? He said he was going to stop doing any more music, then after a break, he started up again ? Ran out of money maybe ?
