Never mind the sound quality, listen to the music.
I wasn't dissing the Beatles and the music they made with the equipment that was available to them in the studio was second to none.

Dave Grohl rescuing the Neve desk? Was discussing this just the other night. Most famously, Nevermind was recorded on that desk & I'd certainly put that record in my top ten.
Great film.

They had their own studio called Polar, I know they ended up with a Harrison console in there (same make that Thriller was recorded through in Westlake studio along with using a lot of Neve pre-amps) and Led Zeppelin recorded In Through The Out Door there, Genesis also recorded Duke there.

I don't think it's possible to nominate one best album ever, but all of the following are contenders for me:

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street
Nirvana - Nevermind
The Beatles - White Album
Arcade Fire - Funeral
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses

In the usual way, someone will pop up to post some obscure Scandinavian or South American death garage metal album.

For me, the best album ever.. well it'd be this one. For very personal reasons.

Catherine Wheel - Adam and Eve.

There is something about that album that just grabs me and makes me listen to the whole thing, the sure fire sign of a great album.

Songs for the deaf is up there as well, but sounds awful. frown

Surely this should be titled the best album after Quadrophenia. Which, as everyone knows, is Who's Next.
Fleetwood Mac- the darlings of the middle class, middle aged, Guardian reading trendies who probably think Van Morison is a rock singer.

Oooo now there's an interesting choice. ACDC's best, certainly.
