They were my 2nd ever gig, in ‘84 I think at the Glasgow Apollo, supported by a little known popular beat combo called Bon Jovi, if memory serves. Runaway had just come out - and they absolutely rocked that stage. But Kiss were great too - Love Gun. Detroit Rock City, Black Diamond, I Was Made... all fabulous rock songs. Lick it Up had some great tracks and Tears Are Falling is just glorious.

I finally saw them live in Glasgow about a decade ago and was blown away.
Just fantastic live & the best stage show.

I’ve been watching Paul’s lockdown chats too (and his interview on Joneseys jukebox) and he comes across as a really decent guy - pretty humble.

Each to their own of course, but I think The Sweet did it better.

As did Robbie Williams
:-)

Same tour I saw them on with the same support (Wembley). The only time I have ever seen a support act called back for an encore!

Yeah, yeah... I know they're cheesy rock, but...

First 'big proper' band I saw live - '83 Wembley Arena, Lick it Up tour. Went with my best mate who moved to the US a few years later. Mate now lives in Michigan. I'm heading there in October to see Kiss in Detroit with him - their latest farewell gig smile

Properly excited at this!

Now, where did I put that face paint?

Any other Kiss Army nutters about?

Not a KISS Army member (well, not paid up) but long time fan. i have tickets for July in Manchester. Proper US stadium rock won't be around for long.

Forgotten that I'd posted this previously. The 2020 gig was called off due to a bout of flu doing the rounds apparently!

Saw them in 83 I think (lick it up tour) and a few times since ,wouldn’t see them now as Paul’s voice is destroyed .
Great fun band and one of the greatest ever live acts .

Paul Stanley, fair play, still has a proper set of lungs on him.

Love a bit of Kiss, mainly after seeing the Scooby Doo animated movie featuring Kiss, was awesome!

Just back from Detroit having seen Kiss there on Friday. Oh my word...what a gig. When you open with Detroit Rock City - in Detroit, you're guaranteed a receptive crowd. No 'songs from the new album'. No 'sitting on a stool for a few acoustic ones'. Just pure out and out rock brilliance.

I'm partly sad though because I'm not certain we'll ever see the likes of this again - the over the top rock theatre type gig.

Anyway, a few pics...

Recently listened to some of their music, in the past was always one of those that commented - Don't play that st to me

There's more to this band than the make-up

Kiss 2000 Man was a great find

fking long way to go for a concert if you don't live in the USA

Credit where credit's due - Possibly a record breaker - Did you fly in, attend the concert, fly home and go to work?

There certainly is. I think the make up both made them and was the cause of ridicule at the same time. Either way, they're a class act musically!

Great clip too so ta for that!

I'me tempted to say that 'Nobody wants to be Peter Criss. Not even Peter Criss wants to be Peter Criss!' smile

Ha! I could say yes and take the plaudits..... but was an excuse to hook up and chill out with my best buddy from school days who moved to the US many years ago who I see all too infrequently! Very pleasant few days seeing the sights of Michigan.

They sure are great musically and I now curse my ignorance

Good that you were able to meet up with your friend and get to the concert - Very close to being back in the New York groove

American musicians/bands have given us all so much

I don't know anything about Peter Criss

Cheers

Seen them 3 times over the years. Each time they were incredible, and each time when I tried to listen to their recorded music afterwards, found their stuff horrible.

I still they are one of the most amazing live bands I’ve ever seen and put on an amazing show.
