... and more than powerful enough for your purposes
and here we have the problem with the whole amp market.

here in ireland i can't convince any retailer to stock a few cornfords, they're afraid nobody would take them seriously.

a good quality, all valve amp switchable between say 1 and 5W RMS, is to me the ideal recipe for a home amp.

i would pay mesa money for a quality amp in this range.
try the matamp minimat. 4w, all valve, ptp with variable attentuation.

for the OP, for £300 you should be buying used to get the most amp for your money. manufacturers have wised up to the fact not everyone wants a 100w half stack and are getting more 'hifi' in that they are making low powered quality kit. something like a fender BJ, orange tiny terror, or vox ac15 should be the most power you look at.

buy something that will do you for now, then look to build your own point to point amp. in the future. plenty of kits and websites around for that, which is what i intend to do when the rest of the claims on my income have been settled! smile

Fender XD amps are tube amps with modeling, very satisfying to play, and they are a great price as well. Not sure if they're availabe in all countries. They are a great, great deal. Better than my vox vt120.

I bought the blackstar ht5 combo on saturday along with a holy grail reverb pedal. Unsurprisingly it isn't as good as my wardrobe of a 30 year old park lead but it is very very very good indeed and is way better than any of the small practice ss amps I've heard. You can get great tone out of it at decent volume and I was able to play all afternoon yesterday without the wife and kids asking me to turn it down once. Very happy with it and it's worth a try.

Cheers,

Mark
