Hmm, personal preference but for me...

Ray LaMontagne - Incredible voice, Crazy cover is quite incredible as is saved by a Woman, trouble etc.
Chris Martin - Whatever you say about Coldplay he still has a fantastic voice and different.
Jimi Hendrix - Not the strongest part of his performance but i still enjoy it.
Jack Bruce and Clapton - both not perfect but i enjoy them.
Caleb Followil, Kings of Leon - Fantastic Deep South sounding voice.
Freddie M - So powerful
Jay Kay
Kurt Cobain - Like Caleb in a way but more understated

Seal - Enjoyed Rose on the grave.
Method Man - Extremely left field for on here but has a great tone even if he is only a rapper.

Edited because i keep thinking of people..doh

Also there are a bunch of worldmusic giants around. Maybe a bit too niche . . . ?

Freddie Mercury was the only "pop" star to have a full operatic vocal range. Four octave range apparently.

Dear me - this thread seems to be full of lists of second rate heavy metal shouters with two volumes -loud and louder.

Unquestionably the best male vocalist (British) is, or rather was, Steve Marriott. Fantastic singer, very good frontman and a pretty good guitarist.

I dare anyone not to be blown away by the version of Little Tin Soldier the Small Faces did with PP Arnold. Go on - find it on youtube now - it's in colour too. It is truly fantastic music. Great band the Small Faces - great music and really cool as well.

Sorry don't know how to do linkys.

I agree....Marriott had an amazing voice...
Have a search on youtube for Steve Marriot doing Black Coffee on OGWT.

Alan Rickman on Tubular Bells 2 by Mike Oldfield. He may not have sung his lines but its so effective.

just watched Queen live at Wembley 86 on vh-1 y/day! Ive seen it b4 yonks ago but although im not really a Queen fan, this show was fantastic and Mercury never missed a note and was generally all-round brilliant. Number one showman IMO and that live voice of his would put the majority of todays "stars" to shame.
