Wouldn't associate this band with the PH crowd, but anyway, I managed to get tickets for The 1975 at the O2 in London in December. I've never actually been to an arena gig before so not sure what the vibe will be like, but my tickets are standing so hopefully I'll still feel an intimate atmosphere.
My daughter went to see the 1975 (we often go together, but I don't like them, so treated her and her boyfriend) and thought they were very good. The O2 I don't like - Too big, no atmosphere. A personal view, of course. I find Brixton O2/Academy a bit too big, though.
That Dylan gig I mentioned was at the O2/Millenium Dome and I was stunned at how far away you could be and still be in the same room! My seat was the front row of the upper seating, but the performers were dots. The worst seats were as far back again and probably came with oxygen for the altitude!

Not a fan of the O2 at the Dome either, huge impersonal, crap beer, etc., but as larger venues go the Brixton Academy has something about it I really like..
Not been to a hell of a lot this year, and strangely all but one have been at venues I haven't been to before
Slipknot @ Alexandra Palace
AC/DC @ Olympic Stadium
D:A @ 02 Islington
Combichrist/Filter @ Heaven, London (great venue, and possibly the best so far this )
Hands Off Gretel @ The Rainbow, Birmingham
The last of those was this week, as I went on the strength of a bio and a couple of YouTube clips rather than sit watching TV in a hotel, but for anyone that likes a bit of grunge/punk/riot grrl type bands (like L7/Hole/etc) they are a new band well worth looking out for.. A very good live band, and I'd be tempted to see them again.

Just booked to go and see St Etienne's 25th Anniversary tour of "Foxbase Alpha" after seeing their Glastonbury set.
Thanks for the heads up and just booked up for this as well, one of the bands I always seem to miss so really pleased to be finally going to see them. Glastonbury set was very good and I'm sure Heaven will be an excellent venue, happy days One more added, Blossoms in December. Rumour is Charlatans and James are doing a joint gig late this year so hoping to get tickets for that, if true.

guns and roses just announced a japan/Australian tour....... when do we think the European dates will get announced? I'm guessing they'll be in Europe across the summer, headline stadium gigs, then a couple of festival appearances, I'm thinking they could be on for getting the Glastonbury gig this year!
Friends & I were discussing an upcoming Guns N Roses gig. I don't think I'll bother. I've been to a couple of gigs recently that I wouldn't ordinarily have bothered with; KISS, AC/DC and they were awesome. But I expect GNR to be expensive and disappointing.
We missed out on tickets for Stone Roses @ Sydney Opera House which doesn't bother me, as that's not the venue for them.
Conversely I'm not a big fan of The Levellers but I can't wait to see them in October.

I would have a read of some of the reviews from the US tour, by all accounts they are sounding great and putting on a good show! It'll definitely be expensive though. But axl is still managing hit those vocals and even got praise for his stint covering on the AC/DC tour for brian.Gassing Station | Music | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
