Over the years there's been a few. I caught KT Tunstall a few days after her breakthrough appearance on Later for £2! Vintage trouble in a pub in Brighton for a fiver. Bernard Butler as Trans in a 200 cap room last year for a tenner & Real Estate two weeks ago at Komedia in Brighton which is about 400 ish people.
Keeping your ear to the ground pays off, but I agree, if you want the Foo's & the like, you have to go with the flow.
My biggest balls up was not watching a band playing in a school hall Torquay ( or possibly teighnmouth) the band was muse and it was 92 maybe 93Keeping your ear to the ground pays off, but I agree, if you want the Foo's & the like, you have to go with the flow.

This sums up big venues for me. I know if you want to see the big acts you have little choice, but I really can't get on with cavernous venues. For me, catching an act on the way up in a sweaty small room with a couple of hundred people is where it's at these days.
I've been fairly lucky in that respect over the years, even managing to see Dave Grohl and Kurt Cobain perform acoustically as 'Teen Spirit' in a pub in Edinburgh.Otherwise there's been a mix of bands on the way up (Faith No More, Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden and Manic Street Preachers) and more recently bigger bands in small venues - Foo Fighters in Dingwalls in 2011, and Nine Inch Nails at the Scala last year. An other was in Dallas in 2005, when a fairly unknown band over there played a club a few weeks before they played a show in Hyde Park (Kasabian)

You do know it's "The Hunting Party Tour" right? As in a promotion of their new album.
It's good, the experiments paid off well here. To date i feel "living things" has been their only weak point.
Yes I do know its for the promotion of the new album, just IMO I prefer their old stuff. It's good, the experiments paid off well here. To date i feel "living things" has been their only weak point.
I'm reserving judgement until Sunday evening, I've been wanted to see them since Meteora, would have sold my left nut to see them at the Milton Keynes bowl, or this year at Download, they played the entire Hybrid Theory album back to back. That would be my life complete.
Saw Joanne Shaw Taylor on Tuesday night at The Globe in Cardiff (great little venue for blues stuff), Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake/UFO etc) was supporting. Was an excellent night. Can't recommend Marsdens new Shine album for anyone who likes guitar driven music with a blues slant. There was even a marriage proposal on stage, although I'm still not sure if he said yes to her...
Biffy clyro last were night were brilliant, played loads of old stuff.
Support bands were pretty ropey , huxtables a duo who are just like royal blood but i guess cheaper to book and this band https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKm9ncdy5L4
Zane Lowes hyping this band up, but i don't get them they are st with some fake political slogans , give me anti flag or bad religion any day.

Leeds last night for the James gig, fantastic. What a terrific band live, such talented musicians and second to none at engaging with the crowd.
Agreed, I've seen them in Oxford and Brixton on this tour, both very special gigs. Their new album is one of their finest IMO, probably the only band amongst their 90's contemporaries to still be recording quality material. Tim loves a crowdsurf, hey? PurpleTurtle said:

I went to see the pretty reckless last week and it was pretty poor (probably to be expected). but they now have 2 albums together, but she played for about an hour then went off, came back to do her encore sang the first few lines, she went of stage, the guitarists go off and then it goes into a full on drum solo type thing. we then get 10minutes of the drummer sitting there doing his own thing over a heavy dance/dub step type beat backing track, they all come back out and sings a few more lines, then finished.no need to string the end of the gig out for 15/20mins for the sake of one (pretty crap) song

Linkin Park this Sunday @ O2
Us too, taking the step son for his first gigEdited by Pebbles167 on Tuesday 18th November 22:23
1) I'm not a huge fan of LP
2) I was driving so couldn't drink
3) I was with my 14 year old stepson who wasn't overly keen on standing in a big crowd, so we stood back a bit
That was a pretty good gig, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I was going to. Their new stuff I thought got a mixed reception with the crowd - they played a quite a bit of their old stuff too and that got all of the crowd going. Good crowd interaction.
I would go watch them again

In The End was utterly awesome and the crowd erupted. Thought it was one of the best large scale gigs I have ever seen.

Agreed on the new album, it's very strong. Tim was on fine form last night, crowdsurfing and bursting with energy as ever. The crowd were in fine fettle too, and as we know, the crowd can make or break a concert. Morrissey will have a job topping that this weekend, but I remain full of confidence!
I'm going to Mozzer too - fingers crossed he turns up! I hope not, but something tells me this could be his last British gig for some time, indeed ever. I know he's had his ups and downs with his record co and health issues of late but only one UK date smacks of a man ready to call it a day. PurpleTurtle said:

Gotta say, has to be the best gig I've ever been to.
