Wilco, "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" - http://www.veoh.com/watch/v70497095nejET5bJ - a fascinating documentary film abut the making and (non!) selling of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

Started at the beginning of the recording period before they knew this was when the wheels would come off. Warts and all and features some good insights into their recording process and some good concert footage.

The Carpenters 'Goodbye To Love'. Great song, sublime vocals from KC, and one of the best guitar solos ever IMO.

If my son plays it one more time, it's gonna get shoved where the sun don't shine...

And for those what don't know what I'm on about...

...three overly cute, overly choreographed (yes, I saw them at Reading last year) Japanese teenaged girls who perform almost exclusively in their native language. My 18 year-old son has become obsessed with all things Japanese this past year - cartoons, art, music. I'm not necessarily saying they're bad either, but since he got back from their Wembley show this Saturday just gone, with a copy of the album in his sticky paw? Well lets just say that he's been listening to it on a loop through his laptop. And now I'm listening to them through YouTube to see what all the fuss is about. More fool me! rolleyes
Sick puppy I may be, but I quite like that. Never heard of them before.

'Gimme Chocolate' is quite entertaining, too.

Sorry....

My builder has introduced me to Patti Smith. Considering how I like a bit of punk I am not sure how I missed her first time round.

I played that to my 6th form students recently. It was well received!

Slipknot - Snuff.

Been listening to that Disturbed cover of The Sound of Silence. There's a little vocal melody in it that with David Draimans timbre on it and the general building up of that song reminded me of something. I had the tune in my head but couldn't place it. Still awake at 12:30 and it's just come to me after about 4 hours! Snuff by Slipknot. Great song.

Luddite - by Cherry Ghost

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOptmgD2Gqc

the instrumental opening and then the chorus into strings ending are things of beauty to my ears. I love this song so much. Being followed by Diamond In The Grind and Strays ends the album so well.
