Nearly all are rock based and ALL relate to the original album version
Beatles
Ticket To Ride
Get Back
Rolling Stones Stuff
Gimme Shelter probably my favourite
I'm Goin Down
Stray Cat Blues
Under My Thumb
Time Waits For No One
Start Me Up
Deep Purple:
Smoke On The Water
Burn
Mary Long
Perfect Strangers
And ashtonishingly from the non Ritchie Blackmore Deep Purple mk 4:
You Keep On Moving - it may not be true Purple but it is simply one of the finest things they recorded in ANY version of the mk.
Rainbow:
Man On The Silver Mountain - Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow
Stargazer
All Night Long
Weiss Heim
Zeppelin:
When The Levee Breaks
Trampled Under Foot
Over The Hills And Far Away
Immigrant Song
The Rover - simply sublime the way it opens and plods along sounding "wonky" its like the record is slowing just brilliant
Van Halen
Runnin With The Devil
Little Dreamer
Your'e No Good
T.Rex Get it On
Children Of The Revolution
Telegram Sam
Slade
Goodbye To Jane
Take Me Back Home
Oasis
Wonderwall
Whatever
Its Good To Be Free
Stranglers:
No More Heroes
Nice N Sleazy
Happy Mondays Kinky Afro
AC/DC Hells Bells
And I know I will get slaughtered for this but genuinely
Gary Glitter - I Didn't Know I loved You Till I saw You Rock n Roll first time I heard that it was so superb and tribal
But the best intro to any record has to go to:
Honky Tonk Women by The Stones
Beatles
Ticket To Ride
Get Back
Rolling Stones Stuff
Gimme Shelter probably my favourite

Stray Cat Blues
Under My Thumb

All the young Dudes?

I don't know, have we? Are you going for the ironically lazy post of the month award? Back on topic: Franz Ferdinand - Take me out. It's more like a totally different track than an intro, I like it better than what comes after!

I have a penchant for super long epic tracks. Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Welcome to the Pleasuredome got overshadowed by all the controversy at the time of it's release, masking a cracking track with great production, all 13m39s of it.
The music doesn't start until 1:20 and the vocals don't start until 2:38. If you are into bass playing then you should know about it already anyway, but if you aren't then just listen to it. Better still listen to a lossless copy or vinyl or something.

To continue the OP's theme, Dire Straits have some excellent intros. Telegraph Road (14m24s) from Love Over Gold (my 2nd favourite album design ever) is epic driving music, and again the vocals don't start until 2:20.

From the same album, the intro to Private Investigations has to be up there with the best. So atmospheric.

Most things by Clapton.
Most things by Knopfler.
Most things by the God that is Angus Young.
Just about covers it I think
Its scary but the older I get the more I appreciate Clapton. And Clapton and Knopfler playing together is just taking the piss. Throw Sting in the mix and you just know that they are basically telling you your circle of friends are talentless nobodies even if it includes Einstein Hawking and Wagner.
