The guitar solo in My Sharona by The Knack is absolutely brilliant, yet never gets a mention or credit.
Yes excellent choice-it's almost like it's been dropped in from another song.My nominations are:
In a room by Dodgy
Hello by jesus Jones.
Both 'just' pop songs but the solos are short yet precise, energetic and perfectly judged.
This Is The Night by The The has a lovely solo by Johnny Marr. Not so flashy but it works perfectly.

(...about 2:45 in)
Bernard Butler let’s rip in We Are The Pigs (...if he actually did it, who knows) & a fella called Angelo Bruschini was the guitarist with The Blue Aeroplanes for a few years, Colour Me gets two solos, the second one is a corker. He’s the guitarist with Massive Attack now and is a really tasty player. Cool guy.

Here is one I have always rated ( first time on this particular PH forum !)
Bryan Ferry: Windswept from 1985 from about 2.30min in
Not sure who is playing it...
Great track from one favourite albums. In addition to Knopfler on Windswept, David Gilmour and Nile Rogers also played lead guitar on the Boys and Girls album.Bryan Ferry: Windswept from 1985 from about 2.30min in

Almost all of Brian May's solo's are really well put together, so he probably doesn't belong here. But I always thought the Intro to Gimme the Prize was quite Un-Brian like. I'm not sure if he's tapping or just using lots of hammer-ons. I'm not sure he can play it live.

All About Eve - December
Dan Fogelberg - Face the Fire
I also agree with the previous mention of Bill Nelson. Be Bop Deluxe's "Adventures in a Yorkshire Landscape' is a truly sublime piece of guitar work.
As to underrated guitarists generally, I'd nominate Runrig's Malcolm Jones. Yes he's good, if possibly a little unremarkable, on their albums but he is truly astonishing live.

Dry County - Bon Jovi. Everyone always remembers the other hits, the song itself is pretty naff IMHO but the solo is killer.
Strike Like Lightening - Mr Big. A great song and an awesome solo but no one seems to know the song, even mates who consider themselves Mr Big fans. I was pretty disappointed when I saw them live and they didn't play it but did decide to do three covers...

There was a similar thread to this a good while back. I can't find it on search, but one of the nominations was a solo from, IIRC, Andy Latimer of Camel. I'd never heard it before, but it was that good I was moved to comment on it.
Anyone remember what it might have been?
I'm not sure if this is the one in question, but this Camel track has some great work by Andy:-Anyone remember what it might have been?

The parts before and after the 'Solo' are pretty useful too.
Calum Graham - The Nomad
This is pretty special too
Ian Ethan Case - Who's there?

I don't know if you'd consider Girl From Mars by Ash as underrated, but if so, that one.
Never heard of it, nor Ash, so had to 'tube it.Not bad, actually! He does well to craft a decent solo over what sounds like the chord progression of choice these days.
