I grew up with my Dad listening to Rock and my Mum listeing to Motown so I know all her work, although wouldn't exactly call myself a 'fan'.

Just streamed a 'Best Of' on Apple Music .... jeez Motown had some great tunes.

I'll be there.

I was hoping for Billy Joel as the Legend this year, as Eavis is a big fan, alas not.

Elton John has got to be a cert for one of the headline slots - on his Farewell Tour in April, has never played it. A final swansong?

I've been three times.

I'm sure times have changed since I last went though, but why would anyone camp to see a past-her-sell-by-date-disco singer? There's lots of cheaper pop stars of the eighties gigs around at the moment you don't have to pay a fortune to attend. biggrin

Whether I have or not makes no difference to my opinion of an eighties disco act being feted as something special. You're going to tell me it does.

If you were lucky enough to have got a ticket to one of the most eclectic, varied and hedonistic events on the planet, but then decided not to go, because you don't like one of the acts booked out of thousands, then I'm afraid you are a strange individual and possibly quite a sad character

U wot M8?

Diana Ross (born March 26, 1944) is an American singer, actress, and record producer. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Ross rose to fame as the lead singer of the vocal group the Supremes, which, during the 1960s, became Motown's most successful act, and are the best charting girl group in US history, as well as one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time. The group released a record-setting twelve number-one hit singles on the US Billboard Hot 100, including "Where Did Our Love Go", "Baby Love", "Come See About Me", "Stop! In the Name of Love", "You Can't Hurry Love", "You Keep Me Hangin' On", "Love Child", and "Someday We'll Be Together".

Hardly “an 80’s disco act”, although of course she had great success in the 80’s.

The clue is in the name, ‘the Legend slot’.

No need to get your spandex in a twist though, there are over a hundred stages you could go see something else at.

A promoter labels a band 'Legend' and that's dried and dusted for you? Don't you have an opinion of your own? Anyway hope you enjoy 'Baby Love' at your "hedonistic" festival.

I will.

The thing with Glastonbury is that it welcomes open-minded people who enjoy an eclectic range of music.

I'll enjoy Diana Ross just as I will enjoy rock, folk, alt-country, techno and myriad other genres. I probably won't see any rap because it's not my bag, but I'm sure the many people going to watch it will enjoy being at the best party on the planet, that is continually massively oversubscribed regardless of who is on the line-up. You'll be sat in your pants shouting at PH, nobody will be listening.

So people who go to Donnington (I don't) where one style of music is played are close-minded? biggrin

Try not to get arrested, I don’t think anyone wants or deserves to see whatever ‘performance’ you are planning on displaying.

Well I for one am feeling a bit "meh" about Diana Ross. I don't dislike her, just have no strong opinion on her. That being said, the same was true of Lionel Richie (and Burt Bacharach for that matter) and I greatly enjoyed both in the legends slot.

Kylie in the slot was great this year, although my GF (who's not British) was genuinely baffled about why so many people were at the Pyramid stage because she'd never heard of her hehe

I’ll go and see Diana. Judging by twitter and efestivals it was a stellar booking. So many massive hits. A true classic booking for the legends slot.
