Guy's,
Just a quick post to bring this back to the top.....wink

Went to the Birmingham Symphony Hall last night to see Satch what can I say - AWESOME!! music

First time I've seen hime live, the guy is brilliant.
Bought the Live CD a few weeks ago but wasn't really prepared for the experience of actually being there!

Wasn't too sure about Paul Gilbert though - didn't think his stuff was as melodic or flowed as well as Satch's.

Chris

Makes me want to go and dig my guitar out and attempt to learn again...
Good call on Gilbert. Technically awesome, but musically flawed. I've never had the inclination to play any of Gilbert's stuff, but I occasionally persevere with some of Satriani's tunes.

Fingers crossed next weeks threatened rail strikes won't go ahead.
I usually drive to Hammersmith Appollo as there is a big NCP just round the corner.

I have taken the trains, but becuase I have to get to Liverpool Street It's always a frantic rush to try and make the last train.

Saw Joe on Thursday night, never listened to any of his stuff before but he was fantastic. I was sat there wide eyed and opened mouth for the best part of 2 1/2 hours while he was on stage. Paul Gilbert did a fantastic job of opening the night as well, he did a Mr Big number at the end and that was one of the highlights of the night (again bearing in mind I had never heard any of his stuff before).

Just got back from it

A bit annoyed that he didnt play most of the tunes I liked.

Gilbert was, as someone else said, technically good but not great musically.

Satriani was good but I felt it was plodding along too much for the most part - it lacked a bit of emotion/aggression/something.

I saw Steve Vai last year and he pulled off 2 absolutley amazing songs but Satriani didn't come anywhere near those levels tonight

Overall a good concert cocnert but not amongst the best I.ve seen....it takes more than just skillful playing to make a great concert.

I was at the Bournemouth gig and really enjoyed it, but - is there a reason why everybody booed at Stu Hamm? He didn't seem to mind as if he was expecting it.

IMO he was 'kin awesome.

they were saying STUUU rather than BOOo

It gets even more boring when people do it continually at 'BRUUUUce Springsteen concerts.

you can use normal ones but they frown on ones that look professional - if you dont wanna risk it wait til the show starts before taking any pictures as a large cluster of people tend to do it straoght after satriani/whatever artist comes on.

Just seen him at Hammersmith. Very good gig and for Satch - Cryin' was done perfectly. He also did Time Machine which to be honest sounded awful but hey ho. Highlight for me was One Big Rush. The jumbotron was a cool touch - worked quite well. And Stuuuuuuuuuu gets to do a solo too.
