It has to be Robert Plant.
For proof, if required, watch Achilles Last Stand on the Led Zep DVD, mighty stuff. I'd also nominate Jeff Buckley on the Mystery White Boy album.

Plant is quoted as saying ALS is his favorite Zep track too.

Not to say I don't love Plant, but when Elvis was around, he was the presence.
Elvis played our local for last New Year. He was ok I suppose but I think Percy would have him wink

No one can match Plant for stage presence!
Have you watched Elvis comeback 1968 special? Plant pinched his and Howling Wolf's act! Not to say I don't love Plant, but when Elvis was around, he was the presence.

Are you sure you are not confusing presence with physical size?

No. Not in 1968. Besides the fact, what does physical size have to do with stage presence and quality of voice?

Pavarotti?

Eddie Vedder. No question. Close the thread
Actually, don't close it. Could be Plant, or Marriott, or Stewart, or Tom Waits even (I love him, but he hasn't exactly got a classic voice)But at the moment I've been listening to Vedder, and he's good.

Some who surprised me with how consistent their live voices were:

Dave Grohl
Till Lindemann (Rammstein)
Ben Folds
