Lets look at our guitars thread
Discussion
Do you have any friendly guitarist nearby who could help you pick a second hand one?
I finished my partcaster including paint job chosen by the daughter, failed attempt first time but after prepping it properly then it came out alright for just spray cans.
The bass is used for a local rock school where a load of guitarists, singers and drummers turn up to have a lesson on a given song then jam it together. At the end of each term you do a gig playing all the tunes. Not gonna win any awards but it's great fun and good way to get playing again and upping skills. Went with bass as there's millions of guitarists already, fancy trying drums next term too.

I've decided I want a telecaster.
I can't play guitar
So it needs to be cheap in case I give up as I did in the '80s.
Any suggestions?
I've recently been playing a Telecaster, with the old 3 saddle bridge arrangement.I can't play guitar

Seems it's the ideal guitar for someone that wants that nice single coil strat jangle you can't quite get from shorter scale stuff, but is not actually interested in their guitar being in tune properly, ever.
Get one with a more modern bridge!
My favourite Fender actually has a tune-o-matic.

Guitars, and any other fixed note instrument, aren’t ever properly in tune anyway, so it doesn’t bother me that much.Seems it's the ideal guitar for someone that wants that nice single coil strat jangle you can't quite get from shorter scale stuff, but is not actually interested in their guitar being in tune properly, ever.

Harley Benton TE-52 is a decent and properly cheap Tele

I’d go Squier Affinity as well. I have for more expensive guitars but still pick this up and play it regularly.
Value for money wise I don’t think it can be beat for new.
I believe the Affinity series has a slightly thinner body than the CVs and Fenders so upgraded pots and switches may not fit.Value for money wise I don’t think it can be beat for new.
I have a mate with an Affinity Tele and he hasn't changed a thing and doesn't put it down, either his is a good one or they now have better hardware & electrics
Custom Cabronita that my friend built for me.
Specs:
Swamp ash body finished in charcoal frost over white, double bound.
AA grade flame maple neck.
Rosewood fingerboard 10-16” radius.
6105 stainless steel frets.
Hand carved unbleached bone nut.
Kluson tuners.
Joe Barden compensated bridge.
TV Jones classic bridge pickup and TV Jones T90 neck pickup.
Emerson Pro Volume Pot.

Got it in one. A 1976 Explorer will shortly sit alongside my V. Same (natural) colour as well.
Can't wait. Or can I... I can only imagine a 76 LP and SG woulg have to complete the set...

I'm a '76 vintage, and have often wondered (but couldn't see myself affording one, so never explored) how much correct age guitars might be.
What ball park are we operating in?

Not forgetting a 335 and a Firebird.I'd love some birth year pieces too, but as I first saw the light of day the same year as the Strat, they're too old to be affordable!
I have a 1954 Highway Code, that's about my limit.)
