The outro of Layla gets me. It just feels like an ending of something, though I’m still unsure what.

You should and it will confirm your impression. And Paul is right. In fact I am ashamed to say that the bit of the song that the film uses is different from the rest of the song and I didn't recognise the song because of that (it's normally not my favourite type of music).

I can't now listen to REM's 'Everybody Hurts' after it was played at the funeral of a close friend who had committed suicide.

Also, in 2017 I was part of a choir at an incredibly moving centenary service to commemorate the loss of Welsh Soldiers at Passchendaele. We were at Langemark near Ypres at the beautiful Welsh Dragon memorial. Rhys Meirion sang 'Tell my father' from 'The Civil War' whilst standing in front of the choir ... each and every one of us was in absolute bits with tears streaming down our faces.

Rhys Meirion's version in Welsh: https://youtu.be/KvVsBjHDq5M?si=X-x-u_IGRQGwBcxD

Bryn Terfel's version: https://youtu.be/Bxz6TxawufQ?si=GMbhkdoKdZUwnJm_

This one is the most miserable video I have seen. There's various reaction videos on YT with people sobbing after watching it.

fk me! That was bleak. I'm glad you gave us the warning, so I could prepare myself.

Wasn't it just... Bloody brilliant bit of art though. Wow.

I just started watching Saving Private Ryan. As war movies go, it's close to perfection and there are several scenes in the first forty minutes or so that get me going.

It's sad the beautiful coda from Layla is used in a film full of amoral murderers, thugs and thieves

Scorsese is a big music fan, maybe a Stones or Doors song would have been better.

Sure but at least it doesn't end up that well for most of them.

Most Ludovico Einaudi (modern classical pianist and composer) music gets me in the feels. Listening to this live at Sydney Opera made me cry.

Similar with this one, reminds me of home (moved from UK 13 years ago)

I’m not usually a crier, but this did it for me…a song called Voila

Bit of chat at the beginning if you want to skip.

I wouldn't say I'm easily reduced to tears, but it can happen when listening to a song or a piece of music.

Adagio in G minor does tend to stir the melancholy that lurks within.

Love the first one although (and I know nothing about music) I can't help thinking the percussion dominated a bit too much over the piano. Bit more piano, bit less tambourine perhaps. IMHO

My Dad drove a JCB and I always thought it'd be played at his funeral.

It wasn't and Jurassic Park theme was chosen instead. A better choice, I thought.

NIN is fantastic anyway, but this version of The Day The World Went Away from Still is stunning.

The subtlety of the composition, conveying so much emotion with so few notes is very clever.

Gets me every time I hear it.

The original is far more chaotic & heavier but has the same effect on me.
