Miley Cyrus (tell no one) covers and stuff, save our stages concert. Boy's Dont Cry and Zombie being the first two. Pretty damn good too.

Yesterday afternoon I was dragged to the local hippy emporium by my wife to see an exhibition of local artists' paintings. In one corner, next to a cremated hamburger, there was a CD player playing some orchestral work. Tune seemed familiar. Listened to a few more bars, then the penny dropped. It was an arrangement of "Holiday in Cambodia" by the Dead Kennedys being performed by the London Philharmonic. (And I'm glad I was dragged there because a lot of the work was actually jolly good. A great big dollop of high quality punk aesthetic nostalgia amongst many other things.

Spencer Davis Group songs.

So far, not seen one mention of his (Spencer Davis) death on Monday (19 Oct). Perhaps it's an age thing.

Great guitarist and singer back in the day and he was important in forming the group. He'd played with Bill Wyman (R. Stones) in the Saints and Christine Perfect, (later Chicken Shack, then as Christine McVie, Fleetwood Mac).
It was Davis who spotted the Winwood brothers performing in Birmingham and with others they became the Spencer Davis Group in 1964.

A few single flops, then came 'Keep On Running', and 'Somebody Help Me' - the former knocking the Beatles 'We Can Work It Out-Day Tripper' off No 1 top spot at the start of 1966, a real achievement back then.

RIP
