Saw this lot for the first time in Sheffield the other night.
Good cover of a Seasick Steve number:

This vid only hints at the sheer heaviness of this trio live.
Took a couple of days for my ears to settle down.
sounds like someone got a black sabbath 45 and played it at 33!!Good cover of a Seasick Steve number:

don't care if this is juvenile but rap and rock always did mix well

what about a bit of french metal gojira
gojira are fking great fella, seems we're on a very similar musical page.for me it's all about rhythms, cross rhythms and chord progressions.this is why i love cinematic orchestra.polar opposites in some respects to what's going on here but very similar in construction techniqes, allbeit very jazz oriented

i know they got roasted for the direction change but i thought their later album "rude awakening" was superb.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfPA8sk8VeY

i don't know why it is only in metal but i have never understood us as fans' obsession with creating all these sub genres.it was ridiculous when i was 15 and every new thrash band out were "speed" this or "death" that.reading those posts above about grind and sludge and all the rest of it actually made me laugh.we do sound a ridiculous lot at times don't we?!!

speaking of back in black.....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_...
49 million copies sold!!!!fk me
trent reznor is a genius.pure and simple.you may not like the body of work that nin has produced but listen to it properly.from pretty hate machine 23 years ago through all the cinematic stuff like " la mer" and "and all there could have been" they really have pushed the boundaries on several occasions.when pretty hate machine came out it was totally different.
to counter the arguement that nothing of note happened after the early 80's i would suggest...
nine inch nails
deftones
helmet
korn
soundgarden
minor threat
black flag
the big 4
rage against the machine
downset
meshuggah
fugazi
quicksand
voivod
that'll do for starters
